Hidden City
by J.S. Furlong
Part 1 of the Unimaginables series
Teenage chess champion Stacy Goldman only believes in what she can prove. When her family flees NYC in the wake of 9/11, Stacy lands in Richmond VA, a city with a secret supernatural subculture that draws her into a world of threats, challenges and monsters - everything Stacy is sure doesn't exist...
Let me be clear, I am NOT a vampire hunter.
I do not have fighter skills, I am not the Chosen One. I am Stacy Goldman, a self-proclaimed math nerd from Battery Park City, NY with a formidable GPA, a 2200 rated chess game (yes, that's good) and no belief, NONE in the unreal, occult spiritual blah de blah. I do have a weakness for coffee and the cute Goth boys that follow my best friend like rats follow a trash truck.
So when the airplanes hit the Towers and my father made the incomprehensible decision to abandon the City for a "safer home" in Richmond VA, I became the new girl in an über hard catholic School (what?? I'm Jewish!) and my sensible seeming new friends turned out to be... well, you probably wouldn't believe me if I told you.
Inside these pages is what happened.

Tattooed Angel
by J. S. Furlong
Part 2 of the Unimaginables series
Teenaged chess champion, Stacy Goldman, has a vampire problem. While fighting to prove monsters didn't exist, Stacy stumbled into the dangerous heart of Richmond's secret, supernatural subculture and now she's a target. On top of that, her science fair partner has a secret that could cost them not only the win, but their lives. . .
Back of the book:
"Richmond, VA has a dangerous secret. I played chess with the wrong vampire, and now she's out for my blood. Plus, the angel who Finder thinks saved us in the opening doesn't seem to be around to play the middle game at all. So, when my assigned science fair partner turns out to have secrets or her own that cold cost us not only our win, but our lives, and my father finds out that boy I'm dating is in college, and Steve's Apple Squirrel Girl comes down with a strange illness that interferes with her shapeshifting, everything becomes, as Finder would say "a righteous mess." "
Welcome to the middle game.
The middle game is where the layers are.
The middle game is what gets you killed.
