Robert Klayman Crime Thriller

The Lesson Plan is the first novel in my Robert Klayman Crime Thriller Series. It follows the path Bob Klayman takes from substitute teaching to an apprenticeship with a private detective before setting off on his own to hunt down a brutal murderer. He journeys into a world of corruption as he cuts through the entrenched bureaucracy of a Los Angeles school district, rife with sinister players who hide behind educational façades. The action takes place at the turn of this century, before the internet and cell phones monopolized our lives, and when a P.I. had to do some old-fashioned gumshoeing to catch his prey.

Robert Klayman, former Los Angeles private investigator, is out of prison after doing time for gunplay on his last P.I. job. Blacklisted and broke, he falls in with a gangster who sends him to Ukraine to move a stolen Rembrandt out of the country. Klayman is soon caught up in the criminal machinations of the Russian Mafia while being sought out by thugs on both sides of the globe. Working alone in the world of international crime, he takes on the laws of the jungle when he finds himself a pawn in his employers' murderous gambit.
