Nina Tanleven

When Nina ("Nine") Tanleven earns a spot in a new musical to be mounted in Syracuse's beautiful-but-spooky Grand Theater, she expects that she will be in for a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. What she does not expect is that she will find a new best friend, the cheerful and funny Chris Gurley. Even more unexpected is the beautiful ghost that appears to both of them. Though the ghost seems friendly, soon mysterious and frightening events begin to pile up and most of the cast is convinced that the ghost is trying to sabotage the play. Nine and Chris don't believe it, and move into full detective mode to try to solve the mystery of the ghost in the third row. In doing so, they put themselves in greater danger than they could have imagined.

Nina ("Nine") Tanleven and her best buddy Chris Gurley are having a hard time. The play that led to them meeting a ghost and unraveling a mystery has ended. Now the rest of the summer looms ahead, looking dull after their great adventure. Luckily, Nine's dad gets a job designing the restoration of an old - and distressingly run down - hotel in the Catskill Mountains. Nine and Chris are more than happy to tag along . . . and even happier (if also slightly terrified) when it turns out that the Quackadoodle Inn is haunted. Who is the handsome ghost in the Confederate uniform who keeps appearing to them . . . and what unfinished business holds him to the inn?

When Nina("Nine") Tanleven gets a part time job at Norma Bliss's antique shop, she doesn't expect it to lead to her next ghost. But antiques are a link to the past, and when Nine and Norma (along with Nine's best pal Chris), go to the old Watson house to pick up an antique wardrobe, they do indeed find something from the past: the ghost of a little girl who haunts the big brass bed in the tower room. Who is this child? What is her story? What is she waiting for? And what does "Early Harvest," the gruesome painting that hangs in the parlor, have to do with it all?
