Blood & Ghosts: Haunted Crime Scene Investigations
by Katherine Ramsland
Part 1 of the Haunted Crime Scenes series
Katherine Ramsland, a forensics expert, and Mark Nesbitt, a paranormal investigator, examine tales of ghosts and murder, police psychics, and scientific experiments. What if forensic and paranormal investigation deliberately crossed paths? Can forensics aid ghost hunters, and might ghost hunters who use these tools one day assist in the cause of justice? The answers to these questions are explored within the pages of "Blood & Ghosts".Forensics is an applied science and many of its sub-disciplines have a kinship with ghost hunting: its tools and technology were devised to record and analyze evidence or behavior. Given this shared approach to solving mysteries, it makes sense to see how these disciplines could be brought together. From missing persons to mass and serial murder, it's time to use all of our best resources to solve crimes. Dr. Katherine Ramsland has published more than 1,000 articles and 45 books, including The Forensic Psychology of Criminal Minds, The Ivy League Killer, Psychopath, The Human Predator, Inside the Minds of Serial Killers, and The Mind of a Murderer. She holds graduate degrees in forensic psychology, clinical psychology, criminal justice, and philosophy, and teaches forensic psychology and criminal justice at DeSales University in Pennsylvania. Ramsland has worked with prominent criminalists, coroners, detectives, and F.B.I. profilers. She speaks internationally about forensic psychology and serial murder, and has appeared on numerous documentaries, as well as The Today Show, 20/20, 48 Hours, Larry King Live and E! True Hollywood Story.Dr. Ramsland also writes a blog, Shadow Boxing, for Psychology Today.

Haunted Crime Scenes: Paranormal Evidence From Crimes & Criminals Across the USA
by Mark Nesbitt
Part of the Haunted Crime Scenes series
The second book in the "Haunted Crime Scenes" series. The series is based on the premise that by working together, Crime Scene Investigators (CSIs) and Paranormal Forensic Investigators (PFIs) may someday solve crimes and resolve cold cases hitherto thought unsolvable. This book focuses on the paranormal phenomena at crime scenes. Forensics expert Katherine Ramsland and paranormal investigator Mark Nesbitt examine murder implements, victims, killers and crime scenes that reportedly have supernatural components. They include the results of their own investigations and offer suggestions for those sites they have not investigated. The first half of the book highlights haunted crime scenes and their ghost stories grouped by state. The second half features crime scenes that have been investigated by the authors, a local paranormal investigation team, or have appeared in episodes of various TV programs. The list includes such infamous crime sites as The Black Dahlia, Murder Swamp/Torso Killer, Lizzie Borden, Starvation Heights, and Jack the Ripper, as well as sites that may be less familiar to the reader. In the first book of the series, "Blood & Ghosts," Ramsland and Nesbitt introduced the concept of a Paranormal Forensic Investigator (PFI) and described how the tools of paranormal and forensic investigations complement each other. I started out in the 1970s as a National Park Service Ranger/Historian in Gettysburg, PA. I knew that I wanted to be a writer, so after five years with the NPS, I got the crazy idea that I should start my own research and writing company. Thus began Interpretive Enterprises. I spent several years as a freelance writer and wondering if I had lost my mind.My first book was a children's book: The Little Drummer Boy. It won an award and boosted my confidence. I had been collecting ghost stories of the Gettysburg area since I first arrived, so I decided to approach a local publisher to see if they'd be interested in a book about the Ghosts of Gettysburg. The first ghost book came out in 1991. Since then, I have written fifteen books, covering topics of historical interest, as well as the paranormal. My stories have been seen on The History Channel, A&E, The Discovery Channel, The Travel Channel, Unsolved Mysteries, The Biography Channel, and numerous regional television shows and heard on Coast to Coast AM, and regional radio. In 1994, I founded "The Ghosts of Gettysburg Candlelight Walking Tours®," a tour based on the stories in my book series. The tour company started out on a card table in the town square. The next year I rented office space at the corner of Baltimore St. and Steinwehr Ave. Finally, in 1997, I purchased the current headquarters building at 271 Baltimore St.
