When teenagers Jay and Lila Cooper and their archaeologist father travel to Nepur, an uninviting land of deserts and danger, they must search to uncover the truth behind an ancient legend. Locals claim that inside a dark cavern called the Dragon's Throat is a forbidden Door that brings certain death to anyone who tries to open it.

A rescue mission leads Jay and Lila Cooper to a doomed South Sea island where nothing is as they expected. Instead of a primitive civilization, the Coopers encounter a busy colony with a mysterious leader claiming to be Adam MacKenzie, a missionary once presumed dead. To add to the confusion, someone seems to have pushed the island's self-destruct button. Earthquakes and erosion are tearing the island apart, and every moment is precious in the Coopers' search for the real Adam MacKenzie.

Jay and Lila Cooper are back for another adventure, this time in search of a young treasure-seeker whose ambitions drove him to the bottom of a pit, never to return. In their struggle to understand what happened to him, the Coopers learn of a greedy, man-eating creature known as Ha-Raphah, who terrorizes locals into worshiping him. Although they are certain he is extremely dangerous, Jay and Lila are determined to uncover the truth.

This is going to be tough for Dr. Cooper. Fourteen year old Jay Cooper is enjoying the view from his Uncle Rex's Cessna when another plane speeds past them. Caught in wind turbulence, the violent shaking of their plane knocks the uncle unconscious and leaves Jay blind from a head injury. Landing the plane will be very difficult.
