Olive believes that nothing is as scary as starting junior high. When she falls through a hole in her backyard, though, she realizes two things may change that: One: the wicked Annabelle is back. Two: there's a secret underground that unlocks two of Elsewhere's biggest, most powerful and dangerous forces yet. What Olive discovers on a field trip to the local art museum will create a chain of events that propel her to discoveries she may not wish to uncover, involving Morton's vanished parents and the very darkest roots of Aldous McMartin's creepy painted world. Olive must seek the full story of Elsewhere, and in so doing, face her own fears and limitations, and possibly the destruction of Elsewhere itself.
