This is the first title in a newly independent reader series that combines fun storylines featuring two bookish cats, with factoids throughout to create an immersive reading experience for bibliophiles, cat-lovers, and learners of regional history and culture alike. Meet Baker and Taylor, two cat buddies (opposite in every way) who are about to leave the comfort of their cozy public library reading nook to embark on one epic literary road trip! After spending most of their time reading in the library, Baker and Taylor are encouraged by their friend Flora to get out and see the world. Their first stop? New York City. There, Flora tells them, they'll meet another pair of cat besties eager to share their library, the 42nd Street branch of the New York Public Library, with them. After they arrive in the city, Baker and Taylor are excited to meet these library cats but can't seem to find them anywhere! With the help of Baker's trusty guidebook, Taylor's sense of adventure, and guidance from New York City's own, these two book-loving cats are about to solve one big mystery and learn some cool things along the way. After an exciting first adventure in NYC, Baker and Taylor are ready for the three Rs: Rest, Relaxation and Reading. As soon as they arrive at the next city on their literary roadtrip, Washington DC, they decide they're ready for a catnap and Taylor's heard that "President Snuggles" provides the best place to rest in town. So, the two set out in search of this "President Snuggles" but instead all they get is one long sightseeing escapade that a very tired Baker could do without, or at least wait to do until after a nap! Soon, the grumpies leads to a tiff between the two cat buddies that results in a parting of ways. The problem is: how do you enjoy a good trip, a good read, a good nap without your best buddy by your side? Thanks to a little alone time and the fortunate help of the US Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, Baker and Taylor end up learning the relevance of patience, ingenuity, and friendship in their effort to find President Snuggles. Everyone's favorite library cats are on the road again! Baker and Taylor are in the windy city to help Taylor's cousin Jordan find a precious family heirloom. The next stop on Baker and Taylor's literary road trip: Chicago. But, before they can get any library lounging done, they're bent on helping Taylor's cousin Jordan find their grandmother's golden ring, a gift that she's misplaced. As they retrace Jordan's steps in search of the ring, they find themselves on an impromptu sightseeing extravaganza that leads them to the most unexpected discovery.
