Hostile Ground
by Sally Malcolm
Part 1 of the Apocalypse (Fandemonium) series
Watch your step!
It was meant to be an easy mission, a walk in the park. But SG-1's first trip off-world after Colonel O'Neill's return from Edora (STARGATE SG-1: One Hundred Days) proves to be anything but easy.
Tapped for a covert assignment, O'Neill must conceal the truth from his team at all costs. So when Dr Daniel Jackson is injured and the mission begins to go awry, tensions quickly reach a breaking point. Stranded on a hostile planet, and desperate to find a way home before it's too late, O'Neill leads his fractured team on a desperate journey across a barren and forsaken world.
Faced with an enemy more vicious than anything they've encountered before, only SG-1's strength as a unit will keep them alive - if the secret O'Neill is hiding doesn't tear them apart first...
Hostile Ground
"You know," Sam said, "these Amam could just be the Jaffa of a new System Lord who's come in here and wiped out whoever used to be in charge."
"That's what I was thinking." Daniel turned toward her, his glasses glinting in the faint light seeping around the door. "They're probably Jaffa mythologized into 'undead' creatures by whatever Goa'uld first ruled this world. Perhaps they've even taken on the persona of Amam?"
"And don't forget the sarcophagus," Sam added. "I mean, talk about rising from the dead..."
"Yes! I think we can say we're not dealing with real live - or is that real undead? - zombies."
"I hope you're right," the colonel said, "because Night of the Living Dead spooked the hell outa Teal'c."
"It did not, O'Neill."
"He's just saying that. He was watching through his fingers."
Sam grinned, she couldn't help herself. "At least one thing's clear, sir. Whoever these 'Devourers' are, they can use the Stargate network. And that means there's a way home."
"My thoughts exactly, Carter." He scrubbed a hand through his hair. "I can't believe I'm about to say this, but it looks like tracking down the flesh-eating-snakehead-zombies is actually our best chance of getting off this rock."

Exile
Daniel cast a surreptitious glance at his captor and wondered whether he'd seen the creature before. It was difficult to tell with such alien features, but he thought he recognized the tattoo on the side of the Wraith's face. Could it be one of the Wraith who'd held them captive in the pods?
"Now where?" Jack said from up front. He'd stopped in a slight clearing, the undergrowth thinning out but with no obvious path ahead.
Without releasing Daniel's arm, the Wraith stalked past Jack and started clearing away branches and leaves to reveal the foundations of a brick wall and a flight of stone stairs that led to an underground doorway. He gestured for the others to precede him down the steps.
"I don't think so," Jack said. It was subtle, but Daniel noticed the way his weight moved forward onto the balls of his feet, how his grip on his weapon shift ed. He was getting ready for a fight and Daniel did the same; they all knew that he'd be the first victim if things got ugly and he didn't plan to make it easy.
Teal'c's staff sprung into life and Sam thumbed off the safety on her MP5.
Daniel braced himself, waiting in hope for the mistake that would let him free himself and run.
But it didn't happen. Instead, the Wraith spoke. "Trust me or you will die," he said, baring teeth in a way that didn't exactly encourage trust.
"Don't you mean 'Trust me and you will die?'" Jack said.
"This area will be swept by darts within moments. If you are above ground, you will be culled."
Jack lifted his eyebrows. "And you're helping us because...?"
"Because you are of use, Lantean."

Between a rock and a hard place...
SG-1 faces a terrible choice. With the lines between friends and enemies blurring, the team must choose where their loyalties lie-and how much they're willing to risk to save their world.

But if using the device results in their own extinction, do they have the right to sacrifice their new friends to save a world they'll never know?
In this thrilling conclusion to the STARGATE SG-1 Apocalypse trilogy, SG-1 must decide how far they'll go in the battle for Earth's future.
STARGATE SG-1: Insurrection
You still haven't answered Carter's question," O'Neill said. "What do you want with us?"
Hecate paused for a moment, as if changing tack. "Very well," she said. "To put it simply, I need your help."
The colonel barked a laugh. "And why the hell would we help a Goa'uld?"
"Because we share a mutual objective."
"Oh, I doubt that."
Frowning slightly, Hecate tipped her head. "Wrong again, Colonel. We both want to free this world-this galaxy-from the Wraith, and to destroy the abominations that their queen is creating."
"You know about that?" Daniel said. He sounded cautious, interested despite his better judgment. "About the Goa'uld-Wraith hybrid?"
"I know a great deal, Daniel. Including how to destroy them-all of them."
"All the hybrids? You mean there's more than one?"
"There will be." Hecate swept her imperious gaze across them as if measuring each in turn. "There will be thousands."
Sam's stomach clenched at the prospect, but she couldn't contradict Hecate's assertion, they'd seen the tank of symbiotes in the Wraith lab on Earth, they'd seen the Wraith being bred as hosts. Queen Shadow was building an army.
"Janet Fraiser always believed that one day the great SG-1 would return to save Earth," Hecate continued. "Many doubted her. Many called her faith foolish and condemned her as a traitor. But now you have the chance to prove that she was right, that her faith in you was justified." Hecate's smile was suddenly very much like Janet's, full of quiet conviction and stoicism. "Your world needs you," she said. "How could you possibly turn your backs?"
