A war king with something to prove threatens the peace Jab and Sanu fought for.
Jab doesn't recognize his twin Sanu anymore. Though they embarked on a mission to deliver a message of peace, he feels more alone than ever. When their offer of peace is rejected and the two are sent home with the battle-starved King Ridgerd's army, a terrible storm attacks the ship, flinging Jab overboard.
Sanu, desperate to reunite with Jab, convinces Ridgerd to make landfall on Coppergrass Isle, where an unsettling upheaval has taken place. Sanu searches for his brother while the king tests his mettle against the local rulers. Sanu believes helping the king aid the locals is his best way to find Jab.
A foul baroness and an old enemy seek to rip Ridgerd's army from him, not caring who they hurt in the process. The twins must help one enemy defeat another, unable to bear the thought of any more HOMES SHATTERED.

An unstoppable warrior meets an immovable defender with innocent rodents in the crossfire.
Failing to stop King Ridgerd from sailing to Qawar, Sanu is stuck between working with his brother to find a way for peace and doing right by the king he's grown to admire. When he has a chance to slip away to the Holy City and meet with Nasalid, defender of the island, he does so, wondering if he'll live to see his twin again.
It was Jab's idea to split up, and now he wonders if he's sent his brother to die. Jab is stuck with the king on a warpath, tearing up his home. Where his brother wants to find a diplomatic solution, Jab is determined to force these invaders off his island.
Nasalid is using all the island's resources to defend it, perhaps only so he can be a king of the ashes. The brothers are running out of time before the island is ruined by the war, filled with FAMILIES BROKEN.
