His Wonders to Perform
by Ian J. Kennedy
Part 10 of the Civitatai series
Things were going well for John. Maybe too well...Being the World President wasn't really a problem anymore. Maybe he didn't enjoy it as much as his role of being one half of the Chief Engineer; but it wasn't as stressful as it had been.
Of course, Sonia and Urni weren't going to let John rest on his laurels. If John was coping with meeting strangers now, maybe it was time for him to meet a few more?
Urni, in particular, seemed to have some big plans. Of course, she didn't need to share them with John just yet...And then there was Sonia. She'd handed control of her Pet to Urni, but that didn't mean she couldn't throw a stick for him occasionally, did it?
If John was hoping for a boring run-up to Christmas, then it looked like he was probably out of luck...

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
by Ian J. Kennedy
Part 13 of the Civitatai series
John Green was looking forward to Christmas.John Green was looking forward... with dread... to Christmas. He'd been recruited as an ersatz teacher last year, to help Sharon and her classmates perform their Nativity play.Unfortunately, he'd made such a good job of it that Mrs Forrester had decided that the other children at the school would also benefit from his help preparing for their Christmas show. Then, of course, John had also been recruited as a swimming instructor. He already spent a day a week at the school. How much more time would his new role require? He wasn't sure he had sufficient spare time to get everything, and everybody, prepared! But John Green had a plan... If he hadn't got enough time, maybe he could make some more? Maybe a trip to the holiday home would help?Nothing could go wrong!Could it?Time would tell... Urni certainly wouldn't! Ian J. Kennedy started working with Computers when at school, but was advised there was no future in it, so studied Materials Technology at University.
After initially working in an Inspection Laboratory, he switched disciplines to Computer Science, progressing from PC support to Systems Administrator.
It became obvious in the process that most computers had a sense of humour. How else do you explain the fact that he and the end users could do the same things, but get different results?
