Sam R. Watkins

Sam Rush Watkins was a Confederate veteran of the Civil War. Born in Maury County, Tennessee, Watkins enlisted in teh Confederate Army in 1861 and served until the end of the war. One of only seven men in his company to survive the war, his memoires, which were first published in serial form in 1882, provide one of the most comprehensive accounts of the Civil War.
