Jim Reeves

Perhaps one of the biggest male stars to emerge from the Nashville sound, Jim Reeves' mellow baritone voice and muted orchestration combined to create a sound that echoed around the world. Reeves had no problem singing hard country, but his biggest impact was in the country-pop genre. Reeves was a staple in the country and pop charts from 1955-1969, despite his untimely death in an airplane accident in 1964. Several of his posthumous hits outsold his earlier singles. Six number one singles would arrive in the three years after his death.
