A brave Basque shepherd (Anthony Quinn) is enlisted by the French Resistance to guide Professor Bergson (James Mason) and his family over the dangerous Pyrenees. But not only must "the Basque" ensure the group's safety across this perilous terrain, he must also elude the sadistic SS Captain Von Berkow (Malcolm McDowell), who will stop at nothing to capture them! Kay Lenz and Patricia Neal co-star.
