Technology was supposed to free up our time to do the things we enjoy, but we are busier than ever, working longer hours, with 24/7 communication access, chasing ever-increasing targets. This film looks at the history of work and how we came to place it at the center of our lives. With a major study now revealing that one day a week is the ideal dose for mental health and wellbeing, how can we justify unnecessary work when it has such profound consequences for the planet? We hear from leading thinkers on the subject and ordinary people who have been forced to change their lives. We look at the future of work and potential solutions to our current problems.
