As the astronauts rise through space toward their historic July 20, 1969 moon landing, a single mother and her 12-year-old son find themselves down in an earthbound world of the topless bars and drug culture of Key West, Florida. Abandoned by their bomber pilot/ Vietnam-traumatized husband and father, they struggle to re-create a happy family life. Based on the novella by Scott Sommer.
