1. The Tomb Is Open

In the aftermath of the crucifixion, Peter struggles with his guilt at having denied Jesus. For those few believers who did stay to see His end, they receive some solace when the corpse is released for proper burial. Caiaphas and Rome place guards at the tomb. The guards are no match for Jesus, who raises himself from the dead.

2. The Body Is Gone

The disciples are overjoyed when the resurrected Jesus returns to them and strengthens their resolve, although it takes a second appearance before Thomas can truly believe. At the ascension, Peter and the other disciples are sent by Jesus to fulfil his mission. They are told to wait for the Holy Spirit.

3. The Spirit Arrives

As Caiaphas and Pilate struggle to contain the news of the resurrection, the arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost galvanizes the fledgling church. Peter's daughter unexpectedly arrives in Jerusalem and Peter is arrested following his miraculous healing of a beggar. Pilate's life is threatened by Jewish rebels.

4. The Wrath

Peter and John are released from their trial when the crowd accepts the beggar's cure as miraculous. But Peter faces fresh difficulties when two new converts, Ananias and Sapphira, are struck down by God. Following the attempt on Pilate's, life the governor starts executing civilians daily until the assassin is exposed.

5. The First Martyr

Peter and John are arrested again, but survive a second trial thanks to the aged priest Gamaliel. Young Christian, Stephen, is stoned to death for his cries against the Temple.

6. The Persecution

When Saul starts his persecution of the church, Peter feels the pressure of having to look after Jesus's flock. Caiaphas's position comes under threat from both Antipas and his own family. Pilate plays them all against each other.

7. The Visit

Things get worse for Peter as Saul's persecution targets him personally. Some followers stay in Jerusalem but many flee. Philip the Evangelist has unexpected success in Samaria. The Roman emperor comes to Jerusalem, an event which Pilate plans to exploit to get a promotion out of the city.

8. The Road To Damascus

Saul sets off for Damascus and enroute has a life changing vision. Peter and John go to Samaria to help Philip and there they encounter Simon the Sorcerer. Pilate meanwhile loses his ticket out of Judea when Emperor Tiberius, is killed by the young Caligula.

9. Saul's Return

Saul arrives back in Jerusalem, where he meets with Peter and the disciples. They eventually agree to welcome him into the church. Caligula orders a statue of himself to be placed inside the Temple, a law which sends the nation into turmoil.

10. Brothers In Arms

James the Just arrives in Jerusalem and strikes up a truce with Caiaphas on behalf of the church. For his own safety, Saul has to be sent away from Jerusalem by the other disciples. Tabitha is beaten and Joanna imprisoned. Gabra meets with Levi to discuss a zealot uprising.
