Zero The Math Hero - Geometry Tutor - Season 1

This program teaches three important geometric concepts and an explanation of the different angle types based on their measures, using units called degrees. Students will Learn: Segments: identify segments, name segments, use correct symbol for segments. Rays: identify rays, name rays, use correct symbol for rays. Angles: identify angles, name angles, use correct symbol for angles.

This program teaches using coordinates on a number line to find segment lengths along with the proper use of a protractor to measure angles. It uses problem solving to find missing segment lengths and angle measures. Problems involving algebra are also incorporated into the lesson. Students will Learn: The Ruler Postulate – used to find the length of segments on a number line. The Segment Addition Postulate – used to add or subtract segment lengths. The Protractor Postulate – used to find angle measures. The Angle Addition Postulate – used to add or subtract angle measures.

This program teaches the coordinate plane, its parts and how it is used to graph points on a 2-dimensional coordinate system. It also offers practical modern-day application of the coordinate plane as it relates to maps. Students will Learn: How to use The Distance Formula to find the length of a segment on a rectangular coordinate system. How to use The Midpoint Formula to find the coordinates of the midpoint of a segment on a graph.

This program provides a discussion of the basic definition of a triangle and demonstrates how to classify triangles according to their side lengths and/or angle measures. The following Triangle types are taught: Scalene, Isosceles, Equilateral, Acute, Right, Obtuse, Equiangular.

This program introduces the concept of a theorem and models how to find angle measures for interior and exterior angles for a variety of triangles. Several examples are demonstrated, using algebra as a part of the problem solving process. Students will Learn the Two Theorems Related to Triangles are: The Triangle Angle-Sum Theorem, The Exterior Angle Theorem.

This program discusses two important theorems and defines the term polygon as well as specific polygon types. Problem solving is used to find missing measures for both interior and exterior polygon angles. Students will Learn the Theorems related to Polygons: The Polygon Interior Angle-Sum Theorem, The Polygon Exterior Angle Theorem.

This program teaches four important theorems and describes the Pythagorean Theorem and its relevance in the real world. Several example problems are illustrated. Problems using algebraic skills are linked with geometric concepts. Students will Learn: The Pythagorean Theorem, The Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem, The Isosceles Triangle Theorem, The Converse of the Isosceles Theorem.

This program defines the term circle and how to find angle measures for central angles and arcs. The distance formula is used to find the length of a radius on a graph and the midpoint formula is reviewed in order to find the coordinates of the center of a circle on a graph. Perpendicular bisectors are also used in this lesson to find the center of a circle. Students will Learn: Diameter, Radius, Arc (minor, major, semicircle), Central Angle, Chord, Tangent, Secant.

This program defines perimeter, circumference and area of 2-dimensional figures. The concept of the number pi is also represented with different approximations and many examples of finding perimeter and area are worked by using formulas. Several Formulas for Perimeter and Area are used for Different Shapes Such as: Rectangles, Squares, Triangles, Parallelograms, Circles.

This program describes how to identify the correct parts of the figures so students will be able to substitute them into formulas. The Pythagorean Theorem is also used in the process of finding lateral and surface areas and students will learn to find both exact and approximate answers for cylinders and cones when using the number pi. Students will Learn how to find the lateral area and the surface area for a variety of 3-D figures such as: Prisms, Cylinders, Cones, Pyramids.

This program describes how to identify the correct parts of the figures so students will be able to substitute them into the formulas. The Pythagorean Theorem is also used in the process of finding volumes. Students will learn to find both exact and approximate answers for cylinders and cones when using the number pi. Proofs and the use of deductive reasoning is introduced in this lesson. Students will Learn How to Find the Volume for a Variety of 3-D figures such as: Prisms, Cylinders, Cones, Pyramids.
