Open Heart - Season 1

In the wake of her father's recent disappearance, Dylan Blake has fallen in with a bad crowd. Dylan and her gang break into yet another home but the party goes off the rails quickly and when the others bail and leave Dylan to make a hospital run, she comes face-to-face with her mother Jane, the chief trauma surgeon and her older sister, London a first year resident.

Dylan's searches for her father's watch - she believes this will be a very important piece of the puzzle - and this requires her to get into Dr. Hudson's orbit. She ends up crushing on the hot Doc and learns the surprising fate of the watch - that Jane has had it all along. When Dylan finally gets a moment alone to look inside the secret compartment, she is disappointed to see there is only a sentimental origami note inside.

Dylan and Mikayla investigate the numbers on the back of Richard's origami note, and discover it's the hospital phone number, plus an out-of-date extension. Jared will help the girls find which office that extension once belonged to but only if Mikayla agrees to a date with him. Dylan quickly accepts the deal, upsetting Mikayla. Dylan and Wes find the office alone, along with something much worse - a dead body wrapped up in a tarp! Freaked out, Dylan calls Detective Goodis, the officer assigned to her father's case, who discovers that this is a missing psychiatrist - her father's psychiatrist!!

Dylan has researched the medication and now thinks Richard might have been schizophrenic. Mind blown, Dylan needs to confirm with someone who might know the truth and tries to broach the topic with London. But her older sister is so busy that Dylan digs deeper on her own and is shocked and devastated to find Richard's drawings and writings - symptoms of his paranoia and obsessiveness.

Dylan is determined to find the location of the graffiti solider that Richard drew. But before she gets started, the loudspeaker BLARES - the hospital is in lockdown! Hud and Dylan end up hiding together in the supply closet and Hud recognizes the graffiti from a picture on her phone. They bail from the lockdown and find the location. Dylan's very grateful for the help but things get a little awkward, especially when Wes confronts them once they return to the hospital.

Dylan is determined to find a way into the loft where she feels Richard is hiding. Feeling isolated and alone, she considers reconnecting with her old bling ring buddy, Teddy. But when Dylan gets there she sees The Blonde Woman leaving! Dylan confronts her and she's given a warning to stay away and speeds off. When Dylan tells Goodis, he makes no promises - her dad's case is closed. Dylan is super frustrated.

Dylan, Teddy and the bling ring abort the loft break-in when they spot Goodis outside the building. Making up with Wes and on a date, Dylan gets a video text message from Teddy - FROM INSIDE THE LOFT. Dylan and Wes go to the loft and when the bling ringers refuse to leave, things get very out of hand. Meanwhile, London's struggle to treat an uncooperative little boy is made worse when he goes missing in the hospital.

While Wes is hospitalized, Dylan and Mikayla investigate Veronica's warning note and realize it links her to... Helena?! The two girls work together to successfully hack into Helena's computer and discover a brutal truth about what they had planned for Richard. Dylan confronts her grandparents, who reveal that Veronica Rykov was blackmailing Richard. They were going to send him away to protect him but he didn't want to go. Jane reels from this betrayal and gives Dylan her blessing to continue with the investigation.

Dylan's 'Missing Woman' flyers quickly pay off and she gets a clue that Veronica occasionally visits a certain diner. Dylan brings Wes to the diner for dinner, but it doesn't take him long to realize their date is actually a recon mission. He leaves, frustrated. Dylan is about to go after him when a server recognizes Veronica's picture on the flyers - Dylan must be getting closer! Later, Dylan gets a video message - it's Richard... and Veronica, who is holding him for ransom!
