Sal Vine, the village nurse, and her best friend, Tip, is the surgery's receptionist. Sal is the lynchpin of the village. But she cannot bring herself to join the guild. Knitting and cake-baking are simply not her scene. But when tragedy hits her it's enough to change her mind.

The leader of Ladies Guild suggests to the Vicar that he needs a room in the church for coffee mornings. Elsewhere, recently widowed Sal decides it's time for her to get rid of her late husband's clothes, but she isn't offered much support from her children.

The Ladies Guild are in charge of refreshments when the town takes part in the ancient tradition of 'Beating the Bounds' but Rosie has forgotten to order the Pasties. Sal and Tip discover that Eileen is adopted, after she has to put her father into a hospice.

Sal loses her job as practice nurse. When her son takes over as the new GP and his wife Yasmeen replaces Sal as Practice Nurse. Yasmeen finds there's a great deal to learn. Meanwhile the Guild enjoys a day out at the Beach attempting to 'Boogie Board'.

Clatterford Ladies Guild receives a visitor from the Main Wheel of the Guild, Lady Anne Crump, who has the power to shut them down. When they finally arrive for the meeting they have made no effort at all. Will the Guild be closed down and merged with the guild at nearby Hole?
