Voidian Poetry Volume 6
by David James
Part 6 of the Voidian Poetry series
Echoes From the Past is a gathering of voices-my own, yet shaped by the many selves I have been across the years. These poems were written long before I understood the philosophy that would later guide my work, long before the clarity of the Voidian approach took form. They belong to earlier versions of me: versions that questioned, resisted, wandered, and reached for meaning in the dark. Rather than hide those beginnings, I have chosen to preserve them, to honour the path that led to the present. This series exists because growth deserves a record. Too often, creative evolution is erased in the pursuit of polish, as though the early work is something to be concealed. I take the opposite view. The past is not an embarrassment; it is a foundation. These poems are the raw materials from which later clarity emerged. They show the shifts in tone, the experiments in voice, the attempts to articulate something that had not yet found its final shape. They are imperfect, but they are honest, and honesty is the highest virtue I hold.Voidian poetry is rooted in directness, in the stripping away of unnecessary ornament, in the refusal to pretend. But before I reached that point, I wrote in many different modes-sometimes searching, sometimes uncertain, sometimes reaching further than I could grasp. Those early explorations are part of the story. They reveal the tension between who I was and who I would become. They show the slow sharpening of thought, the gradual shedding of excess, the emergence of a clearer, more deliberate voice. This collection is not a retrospective in the nostalgic sense. It is not an attempt to relive the past or to frame it as something sentimental. Instead, it is a document of transition. Each poem is a marker on a long road, a reminder that clarity is earned through movement, not granted all at once. By presenting these works as they were-without rewriting, without smoothing the edges-I allow the reader to witness the evolution rather than the revision.Echoes From the Past is also an act of respect for the reader. I believe that readers deserve transparency, not a curated illusion of perfection. By placing these earlier poems alongside my later work, I invite you to see the full arc, not just the polished endpoint. You may find themes that later became central to my writing, or ideas that were abandoned, or moments where the voice strains toward something not yet defined. All of it is part of the continuum. If the Voidian philosophy values anything, it is the integrity of the journey. These poems are echoes, yes, but they are also steps-necessary, formative, and true. I offer them not as relics, but as evidence of becoming. May they speak to you in their own way, and may they remind you that every voice, even the earliest, carries its own quiet power. David is a poet who writes with forensic clarity and a refusal to hide behind labels. His work blends micro‑poetry, philosophy, and observational realism, distilling experience into its simplest, most honest form. He treats language as a tool for precision rather than decoration, exploring the quiet spaces between thought, self, and the void. His Voidian poetry series reflects a lifelong interest in how meaning emerges from silence, and how the smallest lines can carry the deepest weight.

Voidian Poetry Volume 57
Voidian Poetry, #57
by David James
Part of the Voidian Poetry series
This collection is dedicated to Nature, whose presence surrounds us even when we fail to notice Her. We live in a world of astonishing beauty, yet many move through it without truly seeing the landscapes, rhythms, and quiet miracles that unfold around them each day. Nature is not merely scenery; She is a teacher, a guide, and a reminder of the deeper harmony we often forget in the rush of modern life. When we learn to respect Her, our own lives begin to settle into a more balanced and peaceful rhythm. These poems were written out of the joy and calm I find in the natural world. Each piece reflects one of Her shifting moods - the gentleness of dawn, the wildness of storms, the patience of forests, the quiet endurance of mountains. Through these words, I hope to encourage you to look again at Mother Nature in all Her majesty, and to recognise how fortunate we are to share a world so vibrant, so intricate, and so alive.Yet even in Her strength, Nature is becoming increasingly fragile. The world we depend on is under strain, and Her warnings grow louder each year. These poems are also a reminder to treat Her with care, to honour Her wherever She reveals Herself - in the wind that moves through the trees, in the rivers that carve their way through stone, in the stars that burn above us. Her eyes shine in those distant lights, and Her heart is the very earth beneath our feet. She continues to nurture us, even when we forget to nurture Her in return. This volume invites you to pause, reflect, and wander freely through the landscapes these poems evoke. Let them offer you moments of stillness, clarity, and quiet appreciation. Let them remind you of the connection we all share with the world that sustains us.May these poems bring you peace.May they deepen your sense of wonder. And may your journey through Nature - both in these pages and beyond them - help you grow in wisdom and walk more gently upon the earth. David is a myth‑maker and philosophical storyteller whose work moves fluidly between darkly reflective fiction, disciplined poetic cycles, and lighter, whimsical tales for younger readers. His novels explore the hidden machinery of human nature, while his satire and children's stories reveal a playful intelligence that delights in pattern, logic, and gentle mischief.Drawing on Eastern and Western mystical traditions, as well as a lifelong fascination with the occult and the unseen forces that shape perception, he writes with a blend of clarity, curiosity, and quiet intensity. Whether he is crafting mythic narratives, thought‑provoking satire, or imaginative stories for children, his work shares a single thread: a search for meaning beneath the surface of things. He writes from the northeast coast of England, cultivating a deliberate, solitary life that supports a daily practice of creation, reflection, and the steady expansion of his growing universe of books.

Voidian Poetry Volume 50
by David James
Part of the Voidian Poetry series
This collection is built around a single, enduring theme: Love. Not the simplified version that appears in greeting cards or sentimental clichés, but the real thing - the kind that shapes us, steadies us, wounds us, and ultimately teaches us who we are. These poems were written to remind the reader of something easily forgotten in difficult times: no one walks through life alone. Even in moments of isolation, the world continues to offer small, unexpected flashes of connection. Love appears in many forms, and sometimes it arrives quietly, illuminating the path ahead in ways we only recognise long after the moment has passed.Although much of my work blends darkness and light, this series leans deliberately toward the brighter side of that spectrum. Love is often described as one of the most powerful forces in existence, and I believe that to be true. It has the ability to soften what has hardened within us, to repair what has been damaged, and to remind us that we are capable of feeling deeply even after long periods of numbness. Love can heal the wounds we have given ourselves, the wounds we have given others, and even the wounds we have left upon the world we share.Within these pages, Love is explored in its many shapes: gentle affection, fierce loyalty, quiet joy, unexpected transformation. Some of the poems included here also appear in Volume 4 of my Life series, chosen because they reflect the hopeful, uplifting aspects of love that sit alongside my darker work. For readers who prefer the lighter side of my writing, this volume offers a space to experience those pieces without the heavier themes that often accompany them.My intention is simple: that these poems bring you a sense of comfort, inspiration, and freedom. Let them be a place where your thoughts can wander without pressure, where you can breathe a little easier, and where you might rediscover something soft within yourself that the world has not managed to extinguish.May these words meet you gently.May they remind you of your own strength. And may you continue to walk forward with peace, wisdom, and an open heart. Voidian Poetry Volume 63
by David James
Part of the Voidian Poetry series
This collection explores the metaphysical and philosophical search for meaning - a journey that has shaped much of my writing, whether I intended it or not. My poems naturally lean toward the reflective, and some may even be described as metaphysical, though the term itself is notoriously difficult to define. In both philosophy and literature, "metaphysical" invites debate, yet certain traits are commonly recognised, and you will find many of them woven throughout these pages. The poets later labelled "metaphysical" never chose that title for themselves. Samuel Johnson coined it, perhaps with a hint of mockery, yet the name endured. Their work was not always welcomed; some critics dismissed it as clever rhyme rather than true poetry. Even so, their influence grew, and their style continues to resonate because it speaks to the restless, questioning mind.Metaphysical poetry often carries several hallmarks: irregular structure, shifting rhythms, paradox, irony, intellectual play, and subjects that reach beyond the ordinary. These poems frequently explore the uncertain space where science meets faith, where the physical world touches the immaterial, and where the human mind tries to reconcile what it sees with what it senses. They ask questions rather than offer answers, reflecting the tension of living in times of change.I leave it to you to decide whether my work belongs in that tradition. I simply see these poems as philosophical explorations. When I revisited some of my more unusual pieces, I realised they already shared many traits associated with metaphysical poetry. My mind is drawn to opposing paradigms - certainty and doubt, the visible and the hidden, the rational and the mysterious. In an age shaped by uncertainty, this kind of exploration feels more necessary than ever.Historically, metaphysical poetry emerged during a period of profound questioning. Our own age is no different. People everywhere are searching for meaning, asking timeless questions about purpose, identity, and our place in the world. The widening gap between science and religion has left many feeling unanchored. Perhaps peace comes when we learn to harmonise the spiritual with the physical rather than forcing them apart. These poems use imagination to examine what makes us Human. Through unusual metaphors and the creation of various "Beings," I explore the qualities we share - and the ones we fear. If love, empathy, and awareness are not unique to us, then perhaps our role is not to dominate this world, but to protect it.May these poems encourage reflection and allow your mind to travel freely.Safe journey.
