Universe on Fire

They told us "No." If they had taken the time to learn about us, to truly understand what it was that made us human, they would've known that that had been their greatest mistake. Sixty-seven years ago, the Qash'vo'tar conquered Earth. Ever since then, the aliens had ruled from above. The Qash'vo'tar did not care what humanity did on the ground, as long as they didn't attempt to build anything that could get them to the stars. Instead of the stars, humanity explored the oceans, burrowed deep underground, and broadened its understanding of laws of physics. Until finally they could take no more. In secret the United Earth's best scientists attempted to find a way out. Deep underground, they created a portal to another universe. They made a breach to a universe where there was magic. This new universe changed them, changed their own universe. This one accident gave them a new weapon against the Qash'vo'tar. And they studied it, integrated it with their technology, and they waited for the right time to strike back against their alien overlords. And now, sixty-seven years after they had been conquered, it was time for humanity to show the Qash'vo'tar that they had been right to fear humanity.

Earth won its freedom. Now it must fight to keep it. Humanity fought and won its freedom by establishing a fragile peace with the two great powers, the Qash'vo'tar and the Zhal Confederation, by bringing them proof that their ancient enemy, the Val'ayash, survived the great war. But despite that, Earth is still a minor player in a wider galaxy, with only one advantage. Magic. Two years after Earth won its freedom, the tensions between the three-star nations are rising. And United Terran Systems council knows that it is only a matter of time before the two great powers pressure humanity for the secrets of their magi-tech, which is the only thing that might allow Earth to remain safe. Knowing that they need another advantage if Earth is to keep its independence, UTS council sends the Prometheus on a mission to recover valuable technology from the remains of the ancient empire that fought the Val'ayash, hoping that they will find something to help them keep all of humanity safe. But humanity has other secrets, and other projects in the works, all of them will be needed if the galaxy is to survive. Because, Val'ayash have returned.

Meanwhile, Earth is developing its magi-tech with the help from their Ethorrian allies, while also trying to build more ships. But when Earth's allies arrive with a proposition-a mission to find the Val'ayash home and attack them while their fleets were occupied on the front-The United Terran Systems Council knows that they can't refuse. Only Earth has the ships that could survive a mission through the neutral zone and the horrors that still lurk in the ruins of the ancient Zhal'Qash Empire. The United Terran Systems Fleet's newest super carrier, the Alecto, is dispatched on the mission. Carrying new technologies and magic, as well as allies from another universe. With the mission to locate the Val'ayash base system before they manage to defeat UTS allies, and then turn their eyes to Earth.
