All stories must have beginnings. For John, it was a birthday night out at the theatre. For Timus Irnok Mosta, it was aboard the Eighth Galactic Trig, For TIM, it was a simple transparent cube. For Colonel Mutoni Semper, it was the Paris student riots of 1968. For the twins Adrian and Cynthia, it was an accident in Cumberland. But, of course, all stories, once begun, must also stop. The Schism of Seers had determined that Homo Superior would end, permanently, on Earth - preferably before the new species of mankind had really become established. And there was nothing anybody could do to stop that...

John and Elizabeth's return jaunt from a visit to China is hijacked by the Suvreni, a race of peace-loving, shapeshifting aliens, who need the Tomorrow People's help to track down a dangerous renegade. However, when Stephen finds the missing alien, he warns Stephen that the Suvreni are not quite as they seem! With Elizabeth simultaneously on the Suvreni spaceship *and* with John in the Lab, appearances can no longer be trusted. Before the Tomorrow People can get to the truth, they'll first need to work out just who's who!

Returning to the Trig from a holiday on a distant planet, the Tomorrow People's transport beam is intercepted. Elizabeth and Stephen arrive safely on the Trig but John, Tyso and Tricia find themselves at the isolated conference centre and are seen as terrorists. What sinister forces are behind the kidnapping and why have the Tomorrow People been brought here? And will they be able to avoid capture?
