Through the Fire

Ruethwyn's life was promising. Talented in magic, the young elven woman didn't fit in in her hometown, but was scheduled to attend the most renowned academy of magic in the kingdom, and was even building up the courage to confess her love in the hope that it might be returned. That all ended in a dragon's fire. Resvarygrath the Gilded, lord of the Golden Dominion, destroyed Ruethwyn's village, killed her parents and teacher, and stole away the young women of the village. Maimed by the dragon's flames, Ruethwyn was spared by a curious dark elf, who gave her a chance; she had two years to rescue her beloved, or risk losing her forever. Now, Ruethwyn has little time to recover as best she can. Missing an eye and an arm, her magic half-crippled and her wounds impossible to heal due to a curse, Ruethwyn's prospects at the academy are limited, but she refuses to give up. No matter what challenges she may face, she is determined not to surrender. She's lost too much and refuses to lose another. First, though, she needs to survive long enough, which proves more challenging than Ruethwyn expects.

Ruethwyn hadn't expected to risk death while attending the most renowned mage academy in the kingdom, but after surviving a dragon's attack, she hadn't been willing to back down. Though she'd nearly died due to her efforts, Ruethwyn managed to protect the lives of her friends and earn the grudging respect of some of her opponents. With most danger out of the way, Ruethwyn finds herself free to focus on finishing out the school year, and for the task beyond that. Having learned of a faint possibility to remove the curse preventing her missing arm and eye from being regenerated, Ruethwyn looks to the frozen, deadly fey lands of the Frostglades to the north. There, she hopes to find not only the way to restore her body, but also to find allies who might aid her in recovering the other survivors of Mellesyn from Resvarygrath's draconic grasp. Fortunately for her, Ruethwyn never believed that her quest would be easy. Her only fear is that the enigmatic dark elf who saved her life will find Ruethwyn unworthy and choose to end her journey before it truly begins.

Ruethwyn's life may have been destroyed, but now she's ready. With the blessing of the fey and others who she barely dares dream of, Ruethwyn's body is whole once more. Turning to the future, she sets her sight on her beloved who was stolen away by a dragon. Yet even with all her magic at her command, Ruethwyn stands little chance against such a powerful foe, so she must tread lightly. Other foes threaten to halt Ruethwyn's efforts even now, though, foes that would kill her or imprison her. With her friends at her side, Ruethwyn will face any threats that stand in her way, especially since her friends have become dearer than she'd imagined. Still, any romance will have to wait, for at long last Ruethwyn can act. The only question is if she's ready for an unexpected figure from her past. A figure she thought was gone forever.

The fire rekindled. After two years of peace, Ruethwyn and her friends have graduated from Tyrness Academy, yet darkness looms on the horizon. Sinera has consolidated her control over the Golden Dominion, and Selwyn is threatened by Rue's former mentor. In her search for more information regarding her art of atavism, Rue has learned of similar practices once practiced in the nation of Corval, and she sets out with her friends in the hopes of gaining an edge over Sinera. Unfortunately for her, Sinera has not forgotten Rue, and has forged an alliance with some of her old enemies. Unfortunately for the worshipers of Larimos, what they don't know about Rue can certainly hurt them.

Revelations beneath the blazing sun. Having survived the demonic nation of Palto and achieved more than she would've dreamed possible, Ruethwyn and her friends must take the time to recover and collect themselves before continuing their journey to Corval. Dealing with the repercussions will complicate their journey, and adds urgency to Ruethwyn's goals. For only now does she begin to understand how enormous the world is, and how much room she has to grow. As she travels to a land of sun, light, and magic, Ruethwyn's horizons are expanded, even as her convictions grow that she needs to face her former mentor. No matter what it takes.
