Southern Grace

Rocking on front porches, drinking sweet iced tea out of heirloom glasses while indulging in a little innocent gossip is a way of life in the small Southern town of Park Place, South Carolina. Reverend Rock Clark is the middle-aged preacher of the Presbyterian Church in town and has made peace with the fact that he is "unlucky in love" and will always be a bachelor. He's become quite comfortably settled in his life, but suddenly a serious car accident involving a mysterious young woman and her daughter throws him into the role of detective. Trying to track down the father of the five-year-old child while her mother is in a coma, he enlists the help of his neighbor, Liz, an attractive widow. While searching for the child's relatives, Rock's comfortable lifestyle becomes quite uncomfortable when he stumbles into a tangled web of deceit and a case of misguided intentions. When things finally settle down, Liz retreats to her mountain cabin when she realizes that her feelings for Rock have grown past the friendship stage. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and her absence has left him confused and baffled at how much he misses her. Will he once again let love slip through his fingers?

It's the Christmas season and storefront displays, twinkling Christmas trees, and busy shoppers liven up Main Street as Park Place, South Carolina, prepares for its most exciting season of the year. Christmas parades, candle lit street lamps, and children's Christmas pageants pump up the holiday spirit, but not everyone in town is celebrating. Maria drifts into Park Place trying to escape an abusive husband. Broken in body and spirit, at first her goal is just to survive and protect the baby she's carrying, but as she's slowly introduced to the good people of this small Southern town, she comes to believe that kindness and compassion can lead her out of the darkness of her former life. Just as she seems to overcome the obstacles, she's once again gripped by fear when she spots her husband's car in town. How did he find her and what will she have to do to protect herself? Rev Rock and his faithful flock of Presbyterians in the little church with a bell tower help make this a Christmas story Maria will never forget.

In High Tide at Pelican Pointe, we once again begin our story in the quaint little town of Park Place, nestled in the heart of the Olde English District of South Carolina. We find the good Reverend Rock Clark and his very pregnant wife, Liz, making preparations to take a much needed beach vacation, leaving the busyness of his growing congregation behind. They've been gifted ten days in Miss Edie's Pelican Pointe beach house with three days alone before the rowdy Clark clan joins them for their annual pilgrimage to the sea. Even though the Clarks add a lot of fun and adventure to the vacation, Liz is a little overwhelmed by all the drama and activity of a large family, but she soon fits right in and grows to love them all. She and Rock will need their support when the story takes a sudden turn from a few days of peace and tranquility by the sea to the dark and sinister happenings on the west end of the island. Hold on to your beach hats, because for Rev Rock and Liz, there's trouble in paradise.
