Small Batch Mystery

Rook Campbell is broke, divorced, jobless, and in desperate need of steady employment, which is hard to come by in the small town of Rothdale, Kentucky. With the help of her friend and neighbor Bryan, she lands a good job at the Four Wild Horses Distillery and meets an attractive coworker with lots of dating potential. Her life is finally headed in the right direction until a coworker dies under suspicious circumstances and a shipment of rare small-batch bourbon goes missing. Worse, her personal life begins to unravel as her beloved grandmother falls ill. Normally she can depend on her ex, Cam, for help, but his new fiancee's jealousy is getting in the way. As the body count rises, Rook becomes ensnared in discovering who's committing the crimes-or she might be the next to die.

Though Rook Campbell's life is full of challenges with work and caring for her ailing grandma, she's decided it's time to focus on her job at a local distillery, reignite her love life, and move forward from her ex-all which proves to be much easier said than done. Meanwhile, distillers from all over have entered a prestigious bourbon contest for big bucks, prizes, and coveted bragging rights in the bourbon community. The Mermaid Cove Distillery, co-owned by Rook's friend, Patrice Dawson, is poised to take away the prize, which will solve many financial problems for the struggling business. But another distiller at the competition isn't interested in fighting fair. So when Patrice goes missing, Rook is certain the culprit is within the bourbon community. She's determined to find Patrice or die trying.

Rook Campbell yearns for a family and stability. With her recent divorce, her dad sitting behind bars for her mom's murder, and her grandma dying of cancer, she can hardly remember what a whole family feels like anymore. However, new details about her mom's case have emerged, giving Rook a reason to hope. She might finally discover who really killed her mom and win her dad's freedom. But a murder at a bourbon release party threatens to derail the investigation. Eerie parallels between both crimes throw Rook into the crosshairs, and she wonders if she's surrounded by killers. In her attempts to uncover the truth, Rook places more than one relationship-and all her dreams-in peril. She can't give up, even if it costs her everything.
