Brookfield Demon Murder Case
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
A demon possessed a young boy, David, and was causing his family great stress. Wanting to help, a friend, Arnie Johnson, described by Ed as, '...very polite, a very good living young man - very hard working.' One night, Arnie grew so frustrated that he challenged the demons to take possession of him and leave young David alone. Needless to say, they did, and with a vengeance. Confronting the possession of Arnie required six Catholic priests, including three from the Vatican. Although the 'normal' Arnie showed tremendous respect for these men of the cloth, they feared him, or more pointedly, the demons that possessed him. Multiple exorcisms proved unsuccessful and the priests knew this story would end in tragedy. Ed, seeking to summon what came to be called, 'The Beast', by the family, called the demon to his study, only to be shocked and terrified by the forty-three devils that came at him, like a kaleidoscope!
Haunted Funeral Home
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Moderator Tony Spera welcomes a special guest, psychic investigator John Zaffis, star of the Syfy Channel, Haunted Collector. John Zaffis helped Ed and Lorraine rid a haunted funeral home (featured in "The Haunting in Connecticut" hit movie) of the evil and jaded spirits that lurked its hallways, basements, and bedrooms. The Snedeker family had moved into the home, not realizing it had most recently been a funeral home. The tools and equipment were still in the basement without the family's knowledge! John, Ed, and Lorraine suspected that the violent and often sexual actions of the ghosts towards this family may be due to a past act of necrophilia, sodomizing of the dead clients, from the former funeral home workers. The family had first contacted a local priest who advised them to repeat the rosary until he was able to make a visit. This only further incited the spirits rage as they ripped the rosary to pieces and continued to attack and violate the mother, father, and young niece. The family could take no more and called the Warrens in the middle of the night, desperately seeking their help and expertise. The Warrens acted immediately, including John Zaffis in the investigation for his opinion and advice. The group spent two nights in the house and had quite a bit of contact with these angry apparitions. There were lights flickering, chains swinging and clanging, and floors shaking. The group quickly realized that these ghosts were not going to be easily pacified and more drastic and immediate action was required. They immediately called in a priest, ordained by the Roman Catholic Church, to exorcise the home. The Archbishop allegedly gave permission for this exorcism, the last before his death. Fortunately, for the Snedeker family, the exorcism was a success and the home is now free of any spirits, evil or otherwise. The Warrens are now part of a book detailing the events of this particular haunt fittingly entitled, 'In a Dark Place.'
Miracles
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
The Warrens often mention the miraculous man who they owe much of their faith and trust: Padre Pio. This pious man fought the devil, suffered with stigmata for over 50 years, and appeared to people thousands of miles away to offer them hope and comfort. He even saved a man from committing suicide by appearing to him in a plane 30,000 feet in the air! This man was truly full of God-given miracles and the Warrens know that their friend Daniel is with him, in heaven, today.
Meet Ed and Lorraine Warren
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Ed and Lorraine Warren are genuine ghost busters. Ed and Lorraine use their God-given gifts, experiences, and expertise to hunt down the strange, the mystical, and the supernatural in an attempt to protect us from evil. The duo has strong ties to Catholicism and uses their belief in the power of prayer to help them on their quest. They feel that demons and evil spirits are directly related to religion and their firm upbringing in the faith only helps them along their supernatural path. Ed Warren grew up in a home that was haunted and became very interested in all things mystical from a very young age. He is now a religious demonologist and treats every case as a skeptical investigator, looking for facts and evidence to prove the existence of the paranormal. Lorraine was born with clairvoyant abilities; abilities she believed were possessed by all until age and experienced showed her that she was one of the special ones. She now uses her ability to communicate with spirits and relay her sights, smells, sounds, and experiences to those that do not have her clairvoyant talents, including her husband, Ed. Together, the Warrens create a passionate team of ghost hunters, gathering experience and wisdom each time they visit a supernatural location. The couple has had many experiences helping people with their homes and businesses: the famous Amityville house, the Belle house, and Dudley Town. These places, well known for their supernatural attachments, are now forever linked to the Warrens and their influence on the spirits and paranormal events. The Warrens are well-connected to many investigators related in the field of the supernatural and use their services, talent, and expertise to rid people of unwanted spirits.
Spirits of the Woods
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Much like the conversations about extra-terrestrials, vampires, and werewolves, this conversation is absent of the usual hauntings, ghosts, and evil spirits. This conversation is full of the mystical creatures that have filled the pages of fairy tales for centuries. Ed and Lorraine Warren, along with Tony Spera and special guest, John Zaffis, discuss their encounters with fairies, gnomes, sprites, and all the different types of 'woodland spirits.' The setting for these creatures most often takes place within the British Isles, particularly Scotland, a place the Warrens have visited many times in order to learn more about these creatures shrouded in mystery. One very exciting fact regarding the subject of woodland spirits is the lack of skepticism Lorraine and Ed face. The people of Ireland and Scotland believe very openly in these woodland spirits and are very receptive to talk of fairies and gnomes. One of the most famous places to visit in this land of fairies is the Isles of Skye in Scotland near Dunvegan Castle. A mystical bridge located right outside the walls of the castle is appropriately named The Fairy Bridge and has drawn the Warrens to its stories and magical atmosphere many times. This bridge is said to be the very spot where the owner of the castle, Lord MacLeod, ended his five-year marriage to one of these magical creatures. The woodland spirit gave him a flag that, once waived, would bring him help in times of trouble. The flag is still there today, safely kept inside the castle. Lorraine, being clairvoyant, can sense the fairies and mystical creatures surrounding this very sight and has even heard enchanting music playing in the distance on one special occasion. Ed Warren, who is not clairvoyant and normally does not see the things Lorraine is able to see, has no problem at all catching a glimpse of these woodland spirits. As a young boy, he spent some time with gnomes, even went into their home and saw how they lived. His connection to these more natural spirits is strong and helped to build his interest in the mystical and paranormal. In fact, the Warren's are experienced with all types of the supernatural and are not afraid to open themselves up these magical spirits.
Psychic Photographs
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren discuss what is referred to as 'psychic photos.' These are actual photographs or film taken of the supernatural. Many of the Warren's cases have been heavily documented as they are both very serious about finding genuine evidence to back-up any claims of a haunting. The Warrens have taken both video and photos of many of their more interesting cases and share them with Tony as they discuss the significance of this type of evidence. The Warren's believe it is extremely important to be skeptical about each case until they gather actual proof. This is what they love so much about cameras: they are an impartial witness to what is going on around each of these haunted locations. They have no agenda, no reason to lie, and they fill even the most devout cynic with doubt about the existence of the supernatural. Ed managed to take video of a famous ghost, the White Lady, near his home in Connecticut. He waited outside the cemetery she is known to haunt for six nights until she finally appeared. Though he could see the ghost in this particular situation, the camera often picks up images that are not visible to the human eye as the ghost itself imprints the image onto the film. The Warrens go on to discuss many of their more documented and interesting cases emphasizing that the spirits are attracted to those who are more sensitive to the paranormal: 'like attracts like.' They also give advice to anyone who would like to try their hand at taking psychic photos: make sure not to trespass (nothing illegal), go on a clear night (no rain or fog), and be patient. No special cameras or equipment is necessary, just an open mind and a good flash.
Mysterious Places
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Ed and Lorraine Warren, well known for their interest in the mysterious, talk to Tony Spera, host of Seekers of the Supernatural, about mysterious places, mysterious people, and, the ultra-mysterious, vampires. Ed and Lorraine begin by clarifying the difference between movie-version vampires and actual vampires: actual vampires are people who hallucinate or imagine themselves to be vampires, acting the way they think a vampire would act and giving in to the mystery and evil of vampire legends. They go into great detail about actual cases in history in which people took on the role of vampires, were buried alive, and mysterious 'supernatural cords' that allowed them to 'rejuvenate' by stealing the blood of innocent people. Ed and Lorraine also explain such legends as Vlad Tapish of Romania and Bram Stoker's Dracula. It is the setting of Dracula, Whitby Abbey, that leads Ed, Lorraine, and Tony to their next segment about strange and supernatural places. Whitby Abbey is well known for its supernatural elements. People come from all over to experience mysterious sights and feeling around the castle and cemetery. Even the host, Tony, has experienced strange and unnerving apparitions at this centuries-old location. Another place that Ed and Lorraine found to be extremely mysterious and full of supernatural energy is Stonehenge. One trip in particular, Lorraine felt a 'tremendous source of energy.' Another detailed account of strange and mysterious occurrences took place at notorious Loch Ness where Lorraine and Ed have a close friend, Father Gregory Bruce, who has witnessed 'the beast' on several different occasions. These strange and interesting personal accounts are the stuff that Goosebumps are made of. Ed and Lorraine's stories then take a turn as they head across the Atlantic to the Eastern coast of the United States. The Warrens then tell of the strange occurrences surrounding Woodstock and two Clairvoyant brothers of the late 19th century. A Native American grotto is also nearby with tales of people who have seen the ghosts of Native Americans performing ceremonies and gathering in circles. The phenomena are just the beginning of tales to come.
True Haunting of Borley Rectory
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Ed and Lorraine Warren, famed demonologists, ghost busters, and experts on supernatural phenomena, relate the story of the most haunted place in Great Britain, the Borley Church and Rectory. Read and learn why the Warrens, who first visited these grounds together in 1976, continued to visit every year for their wedding anniversary for twenty-plus years. Read the story of the Borley Nun, who continues to haunt this very supernaturally active place. Ed and Lorraine Warren discuss the Borley Nun sightings, and other activity they captured on film during their visits. Told as few others could, the Warrens once again provide a unique, well-informed view of such phenomena, including what brings it about and how it manifests. The Borley Nun is said to have had an affair with a monk and was thus buried in the walls of the building. Her remains were later removed and buried in nearby Liston Churchyard. A rectory that Rev. Henry Bull built later accompanied the church, dating back to the twelfth century. Rev. Bull even built a veranda to watch the Borley Nun's famed travels to and from the church. In recounting their first visit there, the Warrens tell of sitting in the church and watching the Borley Nun enter the church and move up to the altar. Caught on film along with this is the monk that only Lorraine could see at the time, clairvoyantly. Is it the monk of the storied affair? You decide. Read this amazing story. As a bonus, the Warrens also discuss Castle Rising, a very old castle which saw first-hand the suffering of the plague, and within which Lorraine was able to clairvoyantly see the awful suffering that occurred there.
Cross Keys Hotel and Pub
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
In this interview with Ed and Lorraine Warren, we travel to the ancient land of Scotland and the small town of Peebles where a haunted pub has tormented owners for decades. Our moderator, Tony Spera, interviews hosts, Ed and Lorraine Warren, about their many trips to Cross Keys Pub and the long line of people they have interviewed there. The Warrens have no doubt that this pub is haunted, as Scotland is known to be a very supernatural place, from the Loch Ness Monster to the quicksand bogs of the Highlands. Most pubs are centuries old and have many stories to tell, some more mysterious than others. The spirit haunting this particular pub has a name: Marion Richie. She is a very robust and capable Scottish woman that is not happy with the fact that her pub now has English owners. The prejudice runs deep with her and she was even the cause of an English cook breaking his leg after falling down a flight of stairs. They hang an old painting of her on the wall in attempts to appease her surly demeanor but it seems to have little effect as she still throws anything from beer bottles to vacuums across the room with terrifying force. The owners, at their wits-end, called a priest to have the bar exorcised. During the ritual, Marion showed herself to the priest and frightened him so completely he left the bar and refused to return to finish the job. Marion now has free reign over the bar and, though Ed and Lorraine have visited many times, there seems to be no end to her tirade. Ed admits that many people are skeptical of stories such as these. They get most of their disbelieving and outspoken feedback from Atheists who not only doubt the existence of the supernatural but the existence of a God, something the Warrens have very firm beliefs in, being devout Catholics.
True Haunting of Gail Martin
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Gail Martin of Brookfield, CT joins Ed and Lorraine Warren. Gail Martin met the Warrens by attending a lecture in Monroe, Connecticut. After the lecture, she gave Ed a small photograph of her and a ghost. The photo was taken when she was doing construction on a small cottage she and her husband had bought. Assuming it was a double exposure at first, she thought nothing of it. After the Warren's' lecture however, she realized that it was a ghost looking down at her while she is digging in the gardens. The Warren's share a second truly fascinating story. In this story, a couple that had just moved into a home started to experience the beginnings of what Ed called 'an infestation.' The infestation started as strange sounds, footsteps, ghosts present in photographs and escalated to other events.
Ed and Lorraine Warren: Amityville Horror Part 1
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Ed and Lorraine Warren, two of the world's most noted ghost hunters, host a two-part show of their investigation of the Amityville Horror house before it was known of by anyone outside the Amityville area. Ed and Lorraine relate the real events and debunk the myths behind this story that would later be told in books and film. The Warrens were invited by the Lutz family, who had mysteriously fled this home after living there only twenty-eight days, leaving every single possession behind and vowing never to return. Ed and Lorraine share the horrific details of how, after years of doing such work, they had never been so terrified by a case; '...one of the most horrific,' Ed recalls. Ed and Lorraine further relate how the demons they encountered on their first visit followed them home. The Warrens include in this show images captured and their personal interviews with the Lutz family and others involved with this most horrific case.
Jack and Janet Smurl Story
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
To most people, being considered the 'chosen ones' would be a positive thing, full of special and possibly religious connotations. However, in the case of the Smurl family, being the 'chosen ones' meant that they would be tested far beyond anything they ever imagined. During this conversation, Ed and Lorraine Warren, along with moderator, Tony Spera, discuss the experiences of Jack and Janet Smurl and their family, who were considered to be very strong Christians and followed the Lord devoutly. They did not enter a haunted home but were haunted personally. This haunting followed them wherever they went. Ed and Lorraine not only interviewed them but also entered their house and called upon the evil spirits there to find out just what they were dealing with. When Ed, a religious demonologist, and Lorraine, a talented clairvoyant, used relics, hymns, and holy water to antagonize these supernatural beings they were not disappointed by the results. Objects began to shake, doors started slamming, and shadows moved across mirrors. Ed himself was physically thrown across the room by the neck. The spirits were not peaceful; they wanted to prove themselves more powerful then God and his 'chosen ones.' The family was strong throughout the ordeal though the father was sexually attacked many times by a female ghost and even the children were affected, levitating throughout the house in their sleep. No matter where they went, the strange occurrences persisted and the spirits were not wavered by the family's fervent attempts to rid themselves of these incensed ghosts. The family sought the help of Cardinal Ratzinger, who helped them contact the Vatican church in Rome. An exorcist came to the family and performed the Ritual of Romano (aka Roman Ritual) upon their home. This ritual is usually only used for personal possession but as this was a rare case, the priest thought it necessary to use extreme measures. The home and the family are now cleared of any evil demons, spirits, or supernatural events. Their unyielding belief in the Lord and his protection ultimately proved to the spirits and the world that God is always the victor.
Bill Ramsey the Werewolf
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Fascinated with the werewolf legend, Lorraine Warren and her initially skeptical husband, Ed, travel around the world in search of a real-life werewolf. Their quest begins in the Warren's hometown of Monroe, Connecticut where Lorraine and Ed spent what they thought was a relatively uneventful night with friends. As it turns out, what they witnessed that night was just the beginning of an epic journey that would bring them face-to-face with Bill Ramsey, London's own real-life werewolf. They watched the television program 'Sightings' intrigued, as police officers and locals were interviewed about their encounters with the local werewolf, Bill Ramsey. Even Bill himself was questioned about his ability to take on men twice his size with ease as he rampages through London. Lorraine Warren felt a strange and unexplainable connection to this man and made it her sole focus to find him and help him. After a short trip to California to uncover information about Bill from the producers of 'Sightings', the Warrens traveled to London and made repeated attempts to learn more about Bill Ramsey and his whereabouts. Through endless British police departments and confused yet humored British constables eventually, with some persistence, Lorraine makes contact with Detective, Sergeant Peter Hamilton, the man who not only believes her but is very familiar with Bill Ramsey and his case. Together they find Bill and the Warrens learn about his tragic past as a child werewolf as well as the reason behind his unfortunate affliction. Lorraine and her no longer skeptical husband, Ed discover that, unlike most werewolf related movies, Bill Ramsey does not have some kind of disease; he does not change physically every full moon; and it was not a bite that originally caused him to adapt these wolf-like tendencies. Bill Ramsey, according to Lorraine, was possessed by an evil 'wolf-spirit' and needed help related to a completely different type of horror film, exorcism. The Warrens brought Bill back to Connecticut to meet Bishop Robert McKenna of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe. Bishop McKenna agreed to perform an exorcism for Bill, something he was familiar with having performed many exorcisms in the past. The exorcism was a success and thanks to the compassionate efforts of Lorraine and Ed Warren, today Bill lives a normal life and the people of London no longer have to worry about Billy Ramsey, the local werewolf.
True Haunting of a Bed and Breakfast Investigation
Part of the Seekers of the Supernatural series
Addie and her husband were like any other couple. They lived in a nice home, they sent their children to public school, and they called themselves Christians though they rarely made it to church on Sunday: a pretty typical American family. That is, until they moved into a haunted home. The home was possessed by a demonic sprit but Addie and her husband did not want to believe this was true. Hear the actual investigation from with John Zaffis and other field investigators at Addie's home.
