My mother named me Jane after Jane Austen--or maybe Jane Eyre. She said either one would do. With a name like Jane, I might not be a beauty queen or the most popular girl in the room, but I would be smart and strong and make good decisions. I guess I've mostly lived up to my name. My mother died before we could go on our trip to England to visit all of the best Jane-spots, so I'm going with my best friend instead. That's Nate. He's sweet and funny and adorable, and we've known each other since kindergarten. In fact, he was almost my stepbrother until my mom and his dad broke up. But don't get the wrong idea about him. It's never been romantic between us. At the moment, I'm crazy about this mystery guy I've been talking to on a dating site, and he's nothing like Nate at all. I don't know why I'm suddenly finding Nate so attractive, and I don't know why he has started acting kind of strange. Anyway, this is my Jane trip, and I've been waiting for it all my life.

I was born the middle princess of a tiny country in the Alps, which means my primary duty in life has always been to make a good marriage for my family and country. That's why I'm marrying Edward Channing. He's rich, handsome, arrogant, and silent. Seriously, he almost never talks to me at all. He might be marrying a princess, but he obviously doesn't want to spend any more time with me than he has to. I have no problem with that. We can live entirely different lives and pursue our own interests. I'm sure we can make this arranged marriage work. Of course, we do need to produce an heir, but I'm trying not to think about that.

The only man I'm comfortable around is my best friend, Alex. I used to have a crush on him, but I don't anymore. I absolutely don't. Right now, I'm interested in a handsome French millionaire, but I need Alex to help me learn how to be attractive to men. He agrees because he's my friend, but he doesn't seem happy about it. And I need to remember that Alex is just giving me lessons. He isn't the man I'm trying to win.

I might be a former party girl and the over-indulged daughter of a multi-millionaire, but for the last few years I've been trying to be work hard and be good. I have enough right now to deal with--graduate school, my community literacy program, preparations for Christmas, and my dad's constant attempts to find me a husband. I definitely don't want to put up with Henry always hanging around, acting obnoxious and looking far too sexy. My boss forced me to take on Henry as a literacy volunteer for the month of December. I don't know anything about him except he's from somewhere in Europe, and he's spoiled, entitled, arrogant, stubborn... and incredibly hot. He's the kind of guy I've been trying to stay away from. Plus he's got a secret--something he's hiding from me. Now I can't think of anything but him, and I'm stuck with him until Christmas is over.
