Magic Crystals

On the surface, Chopville appears not unlike any other small town in rural Australia. However, its underbelly is more than extraordinary. Amongst its modest community reside six people from two very different families – they make up the six most powerful people in the world today. Branded as "Sorcerers", they are the only six people in the world with true magical power. Yet these two families do not cooperate together and although there is no open fighting in the year 2010, things weren't always that peaceful. John Playman knows this as well as anyone; at the age of 14, he is familiar with the concept of magic, having been raised in a family heavily involved in the magical war 30 years earlier, even though he has never met any of the Sorcerers himself. This year, however, all that is about to change; John and a group of his school friends will find themselves in an unprecedented situation and carrying a responsibility almost too great to comprehend. John and his cohorts struggle on two fronts with their hormones raging and with the discovery of whom among them is to become the Seventh Sorcerer.

The second installment in the Magic Crystals series, immediately following the events of 'The Seventh Sorcerer'. The original villain is back, only this time he is on a different mission, taking orders from the evil and cunning Hammerson Sorcerers, and his path will intersect those of John Playman and his friends on Rock Haulter. A desperate race must ensue, Moran and the powers of the Hammersons against the Chopville teens. The prize will be the most powerful of all the Magic Crystals and a control over the balance of life, but such extraordinary power is heavily protected. There is no guarantee that all will live to see the end. The danger faced this week will be greater than anything faced in 'The Seventh Sorcerer', but that won't stop the teens from having a good time, as only teenagers can. But beneath all that, a far more serious situation is simmering. It is only those closest to the Sorcerers who understand how delicate the peace between the Woodwards and Hammersons is, and how quickly that could change.

The third installment in the Magic Crystals series, following the events of 'The Seventh Sorcerer' and 'Rock Haulter'. With great power may come great responsibility, but in the case of our heroic Chopville teens, it also comes with a great big target. As they are to discover, having the Magic Crystals does not ensure their safety-in fact, quite the opposite. A dark force is gathering around Chopville, far more dangerous than Moran could have ever been. A dangerous enemy will show his murderous hand early on; a trusted ally will defect to the dark side; and John and some of his friends will be taken captive and subjected to unspeakable horrors. And through all of it, a great mystery looms darkly over John, which he must solve in order to have any hope of staying alive.

The fourth installment in the epic Magic Crystals series, following the events of 'Hunt and Power'. A great war has enveloped the world, sweeping all before it and sending John and his friends, now wanted criminals scurrying for cover. While those who can must take the frontline to protect as many innocent lives as possible, the Hammerson family and their army of loyal Hammerhearts swiftly take control of two thirds of the world, using magic to impact the minds of those previously in power to make them cave. John must struggle on two fronts as his social and romantic lives become ever more complicated, and he must be mindful of his safety every time he leaves the shelter of the Woodward Sorcerers' headquarters. Several of his friends would learn this lesson at enormous cost. The only chance our heroes have of survival is in the shape of a jittery old man, who may have all the answers; but in order to find out, the Chopville teens must undergo a journey of discovery and understanding first.

John and his circle of friends, wanted dead by the new ruler of the world, suddenly have their one and only sanctuary infiltrated and destroyed. Yet this catastrophe is also an opportunity for the group of teenagers to do what their elders have so far failed to do, and topple the tyrant once and for all. With the Woodward Base destroyed by Arnold Hammerson and his soldiers, John and his friends must take what little magic they have and put it to most effective use. But a problem remains: how to do what they know must be done? The problem is far too big to be solved with a single stroke of spellwork, as our heroes soon discover. Their only real chance is to put to use a piece of knowledge which almost no one in the world knows about, even though it would result in certain death for all of them if they fail.

The sixth instalment in the Magic Crystals series, following the climactic events of 'The Cloak of Steel'. Fresh off their victory over the evil Arnold Hammerson, John and his friends are left to rest and recuperate from their labours while the Sorcerers set about healing the world of its many war wounds. However their victory is short-lived, as a new threat quickly arises and strikes back, stealing all their magic, destroying their sanctuaries, and magically warping the minds of many to fall in line. Through nothing but luck, John and five of his friends are the only survivors, and must now resist their foe with no allies, no shelter, and no magic of any kind. Their only good fortune is that the new enemy does not wish for their deaths, but intends to manipulate them into joining them of their own free will. As the small band of rebels is left to dangle on the string of fate, the odds stack up wildly against them, and discord is sown among them in an attempt to loosen their resolve. Yet in spite of all of this, they are able to cause serious problems for the adversary, and ultimately to find that the key to victory may lie in the not too distant past.

After having been on the back-foot for some time, John and his circle of friends now have an opportunity to end the war once and for all. But the new ruler of the world has other ideas entirely as he works tirelessly to consolidate his power at every possible point of infiltration. With the stakes rising ever higher, our heroes must consider the unthinkable: that magic itself must be destroyed in order to save humanity from it. Only when the world itself is on the brink of destruction is the darkest hour upon them, and yet there remains one last possibility for salvation. But can our heroes harness a power so great that it can literally bend fate itself to their will? Or will such an attempt doom them once and for all?
