Hooman Saga

Why was that meteor screaming in his mind? Someone inside it terrified of landing? All he wanted to do was to make sure his wolf pack was safe against the fire from the sky. But, the meteor had called him, somehow. He was there when the meteor turned out to be an escape pod. And, opened... His surprise was that the meteor had brought a live human female back. She said her name was Sue. And, she could talk to wolves like him. That had never happened before. Even when the Hoomans were here. Sue was unlike anything he had ever encountered. He knew she was the solution to their problems, and more. Sue had her own issues, her own reason for returning to Earth. Those would have to wait. First, Tig had to get this helpless girl to safety. There were miles of rough terrain ahead, days of travel, and the ferals had set a trap for them...

When someone sends boulder-sized rocks down to planet Earth from the moon, they approach like meteors. On the right trajectory, they don't burn up in the atmosphere, but can come down with the force of a nuclear blast. Our tiny outpost of sentient shape-shifting wolves and escapees from the slave-labor moon colonies had caused a stir up there. They probably still didn't figure out how we managed to help all those people disappear, cross 250,000-miles of space, and wind up on Earth, healthy and smiling in the videos we sent back. But, they did figure out where our headquarters was, and targeted it with a string of flaming rock-meteors, all falling in a straight line toward our little valley. If we evacuate in time, we can still avoid that impact. But, all it really means is: Earth and the Moon are at war, and they have the better weapons. Or, so they think...

Executives running the last outposts of humanity are going missing. Decades ago, certain cities lifted off from the surface of Earth, protected by fusion-powered shields. Their destination was the moon, to mine the needed resources to make the next phase of the journey. The culture in these city-colonies has separated into two - the "royals" and the "down-belows". Now someone is carefully reducing the royal houses, one by one. Who that someone or someones are, or how they are doing this is unknown. But, not unwatched. The question is whether the watchers can solve the mystery in time. And, do something effective to stop the disappearances. Before these city-colonies, and their hopes for rescuing humanity, die.

The Complete Hooman Saga - to date... There are stories before and after the moment a single young girl crash-landed on Earth and was rescued by telepathic wolves. Those stories explain how the major cities seceded from their national governments on Earth and rose as one to take off for the moon. And there are stories that tell how Sue brought peace to the wolf clans, rescued her family, and de-powered the elites who had condemned the rest of the human species to extinction. This first library of the Hooman Saga starts off with the dystopian world not too far removed from where we are now - and then extends it to its logical conclusion. A general overview of the story conflicts (without spoilers): The US major cities seceded from the rest of the country - and were let go without incident. (One newspaper headline read "...And Good Riddance!") Since the major violent protests were all occurring inside them, it was "no biggie" for the peaceful countryside and small towns to wish them luck with that. Of course, this meant that the major "social" and "news" media also wound up in those walled-in areas. Again, loss of those didn't seem to mean anything to the rest of the country. These major cities were joined by other major global cities as one Compact. And then, sharing their technology, they used their new fusion-powered protective domes to lift off the surface. All under their announced plan to "save the planet from ourselves". Soon after that, the outlying areas were affected, however. Once in orbit, they removed all the man-made satellites from orbit, absorbing them for re-cycling or destroying them with their shields. And then left to start moon-mining colonies. While the Earth below them was not only plunged into a new Dark Age, but the virulent infections created in the metro-area hospitals were loosed on the planet once they left. Soon after, a new sentient species replaced humans as dominant. Lupus Sapiens - the new evolution of wolf. This is the saga of one girl who escaped the moon prison colonies, and returned to earth with the purpose of somehow saving the family she left behind. Against all odds...
