Helping Hand

Leo's class are all making flower pots to give to their moms at the Mother's Day breakfast. But Leo isn't making a pot. Leo's mom died in a car crash and won't be going to the breakfast. Leo works on his memory book instead, but he's still very angry. He turns his memory book into an imagination book, of all the things his mom would have loved to do. In the end, Leo's dad takes him for a special breakfast and they remember Leo's mom together. This story focuses on losing a parent and coping with the feelings of grief, loss, and anger that come as a result.

The Richardson's are having a big family reunion and Chloe can't wait to meet her new baby cousin. But as everyone is gushing over baby Braeden, Chloe can't help but feel different. She doesn't have the Richardson nose like Braeden and she doesn't have the Richardson chin either. She doesn't have them because Chloe was adopted. Chloe doesn't feel like a Richardson at all, until her parents come over and play her "tell me again" game to remind her how special and loved she is. This sensitive story aims to help children understand and cope with situations that could potentially be upsetting, such as adoption.
