Addie B. and her cousins, Jack, Beanie, and Bodie are mourning the loss of their grandmother Winnie. While visiting their grandfather's beach house in Maine, Addie receives a mysterious treasure box once owned by her grandmother. In it is a moonstone ring and a mysterious poem. The poem leads Addie and her cousins to nearby Moonstone Cave where together they enter a secret and magical garden and embark on an adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, they meet wonderful friends like Gemma, who reminds them all of a younger version of their grandmother; Jumani, a large white wolf; and Jadira, a strange and smelly creature whom they grow to love. During the adventure, they learn the most important lesson of all - they must work together if they want to escape the dangers ahead of them and find their way back home.

"Gemma is in trouble! You must return to the Garden of Choice before it's too late!" These were the words in the letter to Addie B. from her friend Mai Li. What has happened? How can they get back to save their friend? In Book 2 of the Heath Cousins, Addie B. is in England awaiting the visit from her cousins Jack, Beanie and Bodie. This time, they must find their way back to the magical garden through the dark and frigid Kingsgate Bridge. But, what has happened to the garden? There is nothing left, but dead leaves and shriveled flowers. The cousins must once again battle the dark forces such as menacing thorns, a gigantic bird and most frighteningly of all, the evil gray wolf, Daiyu. They are full of fear. But, they will stop at nothing to save their dear friends.

While shopping with her mom in Chinatown, Addie meets a familiar friend from their second journey to the Garden of Choice. How did he get here, she wonders? Before she can get an answer, he entrusts Addie with a brilliant, red stone and a letter from their dear friend Gemma. "You must return the stone to its rightful owner," the letter urges. Who took the gleaming red jewel and how will they get back to that mysterious land? Gemma's letter provides the clue. "Look for the Ruby Lantern. Th at is the gateway back." Will they be able to find the right entrance and return the precious jewel to its owner? From Chinatown to the ancient halls of the British Museum, Addie B. and her cousins must find their way back to Gemma and return the jewel to its sacred place before it's too late. Once there, they must traverse the dark Emerald Forest, fight off the menacing, flying "Swirls" and face their powerful enemy, Daiyu, in a fierce battle. Will Daiyu keep Addie B. and her cousins from returning the jewel? Will Gemma and her white wolf Jumani be there to help them? He encourages her to write down all their adventures. While reminiscing, Addie B. finds a letter from Gemma in her grandmother's locket with clues to a gateway back to Ambra through a silver statue. For the first time, Addie B. must return to Ambra without her cousins Jack, Beanie and Bodie. When she does, she finds herself back where their adventures first started - outside the Garden of Choice. However this time around everything feels different. Inside the garden, six young, scared Wanderers await her arrival, as they have been trapped there and are looking to Addie B. to rescue them. But can she do it without Jack?
