Freewheelers

The first book in the exciting new Freewheelers series that combines adventure and mystery. The Freewheelers are a gang of four friends, the twins, Clem and Darcy, and Bryce and Mio. They spend their spare time trick riding on their pushbikes or hanging out in the old abandoned kombi van in the alley next to the park. One day while at the park the kids see a man mistreating a beagle he is walking. They decide to rescue the dog and in the process discover something far more sinister, a pedigree-dog laundering ring. The dogs are beloved pets that are stolen, taken to the local pound and marked as 'deceased'. They are then sold to unknown buyers. The Freewheelers will need to use all their skills to outwit these criminals and save the dogs.

Third in Jeni Mawter's exhilarating Freewheelers series. Bikes vs skateboards - can both sides win? Wheels skate park has been built and is about to be officially opened. It's meant to be an area for skateboarders, in-line skaters, scooters and BMX bikes to share. But now a decision has been made to ban the bikes on the grounds that they are dangerous and cause destruction to the facilities. Deciding to campaign against this injustice, the freewheelers organize a petition, much to the chagrin of the skateboarders who want them out of the park. Undaunted by a series of dirty tricks, the Freewheelers, supported by Mr Lark, go to the local council to appeal the decision, but their efforts are sabotaged by a rowdy protest from their rivals. For Mio, it's getting increasingly personal. Mr Lark's precious ID dogtags from the Vietnam war have been stolen while in her care. Someone is sending abusive email from her account, and the school wants to expel her. Her parents are ashamed of her and her best friend in Japan doesn't want to know her after seeing the emails. Mio must take on the skateboarders and ride the course of her life to uncover the truth and win the park back for the BMX riders. Age 10 - 14
