Blush
Part 1 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Since Evelyn's mother died, she's been the glue holding her family together-more like the only person willing to stand her father's crappy behavior until Will Denver, an old friend from before, shows up, hotter and richer. The first time she reconnects with the stunning cowboy, he's protecting her from her abusive father. Their attraction to each other can only grow. But to what extent? Evelyn has an annoying commitment to preserving her family, even though it's been torn apart. Plus, it's not easy falling in love when there's a careless father at the corner, who dabbles in deals with criminal gangs without so much as a second thought. When Evelyn gets dragged into a scuffle with one of the gangs, Will must make his choice. Will she still choose family over him or not? EvelynIf my life were a book, it'd probably be the 'worst seller' in history. When my mother died, taking care of the family became my responsibility. But no one told me how much of a piece of work my father was, and slowly I got stuck between his abuse and is committed to holding together a crumbling family. My sisters leave, making my life that much more of a mess. But it all changes when I see Will Denver. He's returned to town, and he's come back even hotter and richer. Best of all, I think he's got an eye on me. But if my family doesn't come in between us first, then the gang my father has mysterious dealings with might.
Peril
Part 2 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Despite her dreams, things don't get easier for Evelyn, even though she decided to abandon whatever feelings of responsibility she has toward her family, to love herself, and also allow the man she loves to love her. However, that love life is rocked when she learns that her father still owes the Hornet's gang some money and that they're after her now. As if that's not enough, her father hints that her mother's death might not have been an accident as they'd always thought. Now, more than ever, Will has to be there for the woman he loves. He must do everything possible to get her away from the trouble she's found herself in, even though it means getting caught up in Evelyn's entanglement with her father's crime buddies. Getting entangled in her father's mess only means he's inviting trouble to himself. But Will's too blinded by love to see that until it's too late. EvelynI've always wanted to fall in love with a man who truly loves me. Now, that's happened with Will, but I can't seem to enjoy it. When my father calls me to tell me the Hornets gang is still after me because he still owes them some money after Will helped him out, I'm mad, but that doesn't compare to the devastation that follows when he tells me my mom's death might not have been an accident after all. Despite all this, Will doesn't leave my side for a second, proving he's everything I'd ever wanted and more. Suddenly, my youngest sister returns home, and she couldn't have picked a worse time. Now, I have to worry about a loved one getting caught up in my father's mess. But I may have been worrying about the wrong loved one.
Never
Part 3 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn and Will are in love with each other but a stream of problems like a drug kingpin, Big Tom, her unruly father, Bill, and Evelyn's lack of confidence in Will's feelings for her, keep them apart. Evelyn has been thrown into a world of uncertainty after Will, her lover, is shot by the drug kingpin, Big Tom, who has his eyes on her. He wants her for his son and would do anything to achieve that . The story revolves around characters who are ready to give up everything they own to save the one person that matters the most to them. Will this battle of extremes have a winner? Will love prevail in the end? Evelyn POV:I felt excruciating heartache as I saw Will lying in the hospital bed. In the midst of my anguish was the burning desire to bring Big Tom and the Hornets to justice and save everyone I loved and cared about. But it was easier said than done. Faced with Will's physical weakness, a silent and withdrawn father, and Lisa falling on the Hornet's radar, I might have to take up the mantle of defender, something I've been doing for a while, just not in front of guns and people who wouldn't hesitate to shed blood. But what's the value of loving if you don't fight for it?
Lies
Part 4 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn keeps finding out new truths about her family. There is a web of deceit and lies around her, and only she can unravel it. Emotions play a major role in everyone's decisions but the type of emotions, as well as how far people are willing to go for those emotions is the difference. Oliver tries to appear like the nice, caring gentleman who isn't like his father, but he really wants to frame Will so he can have Evelyn. Is Will going to do anything to see Big Tom and Jack rot in prison? And Evelyn is unsure of her love for Will, especially after discovering new truths about his family. That, coupled with her growing crush on Oliver, and the uncertainty of everything around her, leaves her confused. Will's POVWill is willing to do anything to protect Evelyn. He loves her deeply, but Big Tom and Jack stand in the way of a peaceful relationship with Evelyn, without drama. Evelyn wants to break up with him because she does not want him to be hurt, but deep down, Will knows he cannot survive without her. He is constantly thinking of what to do to put a permanent end to Big Tom and Jack.
Plan
Part 5 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn, Lisa, her sister, and her boyfriend, Will are led to believe that Oliver, Big Tom's son, is on their side of the battle against the Hornets, even though Bill warns them against believing that. Lisa is the first to realize what a fraud Oliver is and his plan to frame Will and disturb his already strained relationship with Evelyn. She and Will lead a plan to put Big Tom behind bars. Their plan fails, however, Oliver is arrested for forgery. They celebrate the small win but not for long, as the Hornets strike not long after. Evelyn's POVI think Will has gone too deep into my family crisis, and I fear it might bring harm to him like it always has. He is insistent on paying off the debt and Oliver, Big Tom's son, wants to help, although my father is suspicious of him. Lisa unravels Oliver's evil plan to send Will away. I am enraged! We plan, with the sheriff, to put the Hornets behind bars, but I still feel like something is wrong. I hope we can put an end to this deal with the Hornets once and for all. Will's POVThe battle with the Hornets is still on. I want so badly to end this, but Evelyn thinks I should stay out of the matter. Of course, I am adamant as always, and glad that I am, especially when Lisa reveals what evil plans Oliver has for me and Evelyn. We plan to arrest Big Tom and end the Hornets' little game. I am confident that our plan will work, even though I get a little uneasy when our meeting venue is changed. I hope it ends this time!
Dilemma
Part 6 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Will is missing and a minor beef has developed between Oliver, Lisa, and Evelyn. Lisa strongly believes Oliver is to blame still, even though she'd lost any evidence to make him plead guilty. Evelyn, on the other hand, after Oliver reveals Lisa's former cases of mental illness, is unsure of who to trust. She feels alone and vulnerable. Oliver tries to make her feel better, and they end up kissing at the foot of a mountain. Lisa realizes that her sister has been brainwashed by Oliver, and goes on a one-man stalking mission, which eventually leads her to where Will is being kept captive. Evelyn is furious when she realizes that she'd been naïve, once again. Together, they try to free Will. Evelyn's POVI am terrified! Will is missing and to make matters worse, Lisa and Oliver are uncovering truths that I can't even be certain of. I am so confused and in my frustration, I lash out at Lisa when she keeps going on about Oliver. I think he wants to help. Lisa gives me another reason to doubt him when she leads me to where Will is being held. I feel stupid, again. Will is looking sickly and my heart is broken. Will's POVI wake up in an unknown cellar after a terrible nightmare. It takes a while before I remember what had happened to me. The Hornets have held me captive, and with each meal I take, I get weaker and weaker. Oliver digs up my father's debts to the Hornets and threatens to take away all of my assets in exchange for the money owed them by my father.
Tandem
Part 7 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Oliver finds out that his father has betrayed his trust. Evelyn is injured by the Hornets and has to be taken to the hospital. Will is forced into working for the Hornets to pay off his father's debt. Evelyn is outraged by the news, and she decides to fight this time around. She hatches a plan, which includes breaking up with Will, and while the latter gathers evidence that he plans to use to indict the Hornets, Evelyn loves up to Oliver and his father, in order to drug them and goes in search of evidence too. Will finds her as she digs around, and they both find out they are working toward the same goal. He manages to convince her that he will let her handle the problem this time. He calls the sheriff's department, and checks in with evidence against the Hornets. Evelyn's POVI wake up to find out that Will's working for the Hornets, the very reason why I have been shot, and why our lives have been made miserable. I am angry at first, but soon realize it is my turn to fight. I hatch a plan to dump Will, make Big Tom and Oliver believe the drama, and get into the Hornet's den. I find out that Will has the same plan, and am glad when he agrees to let me handle things. Will's POVI have to work for the Hornets to offset the debt my father owed Big Tom. Even though no one sees my plan, I have one that I believe will work if I keep it to myself. Evelyn hatches a rather 'not so nice' plan that involves us breaking up. She is courting Oliver now.
Chaos
Part 8 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Bill finds himself working for the Hornets to pay off his recent debts, and save his daughters from harm. When they find out that he had attempted to kill Will, his family is against him, and he is alone. Will, Bill, and Lisa have to hide away before the Hornets find them. Evelyn is bent on making the Hornets pay for their evil deeds, but Big Tom goes missing just after an arrest warrant is issued for him. Evelyn meets the dangerous Timeon, and cool and calm Adrian who has an even scarier aura. Adrian tails her to the warehouse where her family is hiding out, and together, he and Timeon ambush them. Evelyn's POVI am angry when I find out that my father is doing a deal for the Hornets again, and even more furious when I find out what his deal with the Hornets is. I find a way to hand over the evidence I have gathered from staying around the Hornets, and make sure an arrest warrant is issued for Big Tom. I am terrified when I get a visit from two men who claim to be Oliver's elder brothers. I am even more terrified when I discover that I am supposed to be some sort of price for a bet my father was involved in years ago. I try to hide my boyfriend, my sister, and my unchangeable father. Will's POVBill is working for the Hornets again, and I am the price this time.
Nostalgia
Part 9 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Timeon has been arrested but Big Tom and Adrian are nowhere to be found. Will is nostalgic and wishes to return to the ranch. He proposes that he and Evelyn's family should return to the ranch and stick together. Bill does not think he is worthy of their love and acceptance. So, he leaves the group when they get to the ranch. Evelyn and Will then go to live on the ranch with Lisa and little Jamie. The sheriff has sent some men to guard them should the Hornets try to attack them. The next two weeks are peaceful, and just when they are beginning to adjust to a peaceful life, they receive the news of Timeon breaking out of jail. Evelyn's POVWill suggests that we move back to the ranch. I miss the ranch too, and am eager to go back but not so eager to feel anything for my father when I learned that he had left, despite our agreement to stick together. The sheriff has sent some men to stand guard around the ranch. The effort seems wasted since no member of the Hornets was coming near the house to trouble us. Life is returning back to normal and is peaceful. Will has asked me to marry him, and I am excited, but the news of Timeon breaking out of jail takes away the happiness I am beginning to feel again.
Choices
Part 10 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Big Tom and his sons have struck again, as anticipated, but this time around, they want their freedom in exchange for paying off Will's debt. Bill, on the other hand, receives an offer from the Hornets as well. He is to complete his task of killing Will and getting his freedom. Both parties have to make a choice. While they are battling with this, Evelyn's notorious half-sister, Courtney, returns to town. Evelyn's POVI am terrified that Big Tom has come for us before we can blink twice. I am also angry at Will for agreeing to take up their offer. I relax afterward when he seems to have a counterattack strategy. Courtney returns before we can settle our issue with Big Tom. Her return smells like doom, and just when I think I have successfully erased her from the picture, she decides to be a pain in the ass again. Will's POVBig Tom is back, and I am forced to take his deal to free him in exchange for clearing our debts, a sign that we were free of him. Evelyn and the others don't think I should have done that. I convince them that I have a plan and go ahead to make one with Mike, the sheriff, so we do not become criminals after carrying out Big Tom's orders. Evelyn informs me of her notorious sister who is back in town, and just after we were going to be done with Big Tom, she ushers herself in.
Mistakes
Part 11 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Courtney's presence stirs confusion that Evelyn and her sister detest. Bill is eager to bring his daughters together, but the bad blood from years ago is stronger. Will and Mike, on the other hand, plan to indict Big Tom and his family, using the recording they have of the night he made them grant him liberty. Courtney recklessly stumbles upon the recording and casually mentions it to Timeon after a feisty romance. While Will and Mike prepare to give Big Tom a shocker after two weeks of false security, Big Tom and his sons plan a counterattack.Evelyn's POVI am not at all happy that Courtney is back in our lives. She should be away in prison where she belongs. I still feel guilty for what I did to her years ago, but she deserved it. I don't know if it is still jealousy speaking or if I just have a longing to rid the streets of miscreants. I do not receive her with open arms, only Bill does, and I am worried that her presence will bring nothing but chaos. Will and Mike have a plan and we hope to seal the Hornets away this one final time. Will's POVEvelyn and Lisa do not seem to want to accept Courtney back as Bill had. Mike is drooling over Courtney. I am not surprised, but I have to keep him in line. I have to make sure that our plan to put Big Tom away works. Courtney storms out angrily on the same day that Mike and I receive a shocker from Big Tom and his sons, as we try to arrest them and put them away where they belong.
Change
Part 12 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Courtney has left town after leaving nothing but pandemonium brewing at home. Lisa is determined to find her while Mike is determined to find dirt on Big Tom and bring him in, as he deserves. Will feels like he is doing nothing and Evelyn has to convince him to trust Lisa. Timeon, in a bid to make a connection with Courtney, suggests using her as bait for revenge, an idea his father is excited about. Courtney's bid to start over is interrupted by Timeon's sudden appearance. Lisa 'kidnaps' her and brings her home for interrogation. Evelyn's POVLisa is determined to find her money and while Will and Mike try to find dirt on Big Tom and his crew, she chases after our wild half-sister. I have to convince Will to trust Lisa. I am not so surprised when Courtney confesses to snitching on us and stealing Lisa's money. What confuses me is why Will is asking her to join us in a fight in which she has already picked sides. Will's POVCourtney sold out our plans to Big Tom, and while I am still trying to understand why the sisters are not in one camp, I am eager to put Big Tom and his minions away for good. Mike has found dirt that can take them off the streets, but a disorganized family is all that stands between us and our victory and I want to try and make that right.
Familia
Part 13 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
The family is united. Courtney is willing to help her family since she feels used by Timeon, but Will and Evelyn choose to watch her and make sure she's loyal to them. Courtney manages to convince Timeon to leave his family, and Big Tom is enraged. Adrian and Oliver help uncover Will and Mike's plans to implicate Big Tom and his sons. Their plan is made, and Will is, once again, in danger. Evelyn's POVI have to let Courtney be a part of us. I am surprised to find that Will himself doubts her loyalty and when he wants to spy on her, I want to go with him. Lisa has gone to find a way to raise her stolen money. Big Tom is unusually quiet, but we have a plan to keep him away for good. This time, we will approach him from all angles. There's no escape! Will's POVDespite the fact that I pushed for Court to join us, I still have my doubts. Big Tom was laying low, but I knew it was only a matter of time before he struck again. Courtney catches us hanging around, trying to spy on her but she's all cool. She's also got extra info that can help us bring down Big Tom. While I laze around in nature, someone creeps up on me.
Scramble
Part 14 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn and Courtney get along fine. Will is kidnapped and the girls have to reach out to Lisa, who is dealing with her own demons. Bill begs to be killed and Big Tom and his Hornets gang try hard to get leverage. Evelyn's POVCourtney and I are catching up when Will is captured by Timeon. We run to Lisa for safety. I still think I should be wary of Courtney, but I am more willing now to give her the benefit of the doubt. Lisa does not look hopeful about her plans to raise money for Jamie and I don't want to poke my nose into her business. Will manages to escape from Big Tom's grip, and I am relieved. We have barely settled down when our location is busted. Big Tom has found us, and although I wish I could take the fall this time, Will expertly pushes me out. Will's POVI have been captured by Timeon. I manage to escape and after what seems like a long time of playing hide and seek with the enemy, I finally find my way to Lisa's together with Bill. I think he is a changed man now. Who am I to say, though? Mike reaches out to me, and while we wait for him to show up, the Hornets find us. Evelyn tries to stay behind and be captured, but I cannot let that happen. It would be a terrible idea.
Tug
Part 15 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Will has been abducted again, and Big Tom is committed to making sure that Will cannot get out this time. Big Tom's older brother is back in town. On the other hand, Courtney has a plan to get into the house and break out with Will. She seduces Small Jay, Big Tom's brother, and gets the key to Will's prison. They are almost out before Small Jay catches them. Evelyn's POVI am terrified! Will has been kidnapped and there are men all over the place, looking for us. Mike intervenes and Courtney comes up with an insane idea to surrender herself to Big Tom and help Will out. How she plans to do that, I do not know, and although Lisa and I disagree, Mike thinks it's our only shot. I have a bad feeling about not hearing from Courtney a few days after she's gone. The delivery to our house spelled doom. Will's POVI am back at the den I had escaped from. Big Tom is prepared for me this time. He has made a tough prison for me to escape from. After meeting his somewhat psychopathic brother, I am more convinced that I should find a way to escape. I am surprised when Courtney lands up here and after a display of skills I never thought she had, breaks me out of the cell. It smelled like a victory until Small Jay crept up on us.
Terror
Part 16 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Will is being tortured, and Courtney has to wait her turn. Small Jay is ruthless and handles the prisoners cruelly while his brother, Big Tom, battles with the realization that Adrian might be gay. On the other hand, Mike has flown Evelyn and Lisa away to safety as he had done with his family. Will and Courtney escape from prison. Small Jay finds Evelyn and Lisa. Evelyn's POVI have become a shadow of my former self since Will got captured. I live constantly in fear, even though we were out of the country, away from Big Tom's troubles. It is pissing me off that Lisa acts like everything is okay, although I understand that she's trying to not think of our troubles. Barely a week out of the country, trouble comes calling at our doorstep. Will's POVI think death is better than the torture I am being fed here. Courtney gets her share from time to time, while awaiting her own trials. I have given up and wish to die, but Courtney brings hope when she skillfully gets the keys from Small Jay again. We are careful not to make the same mistakes again, and despite my broken frame, I am not giving up in the face of hope.
Hope
Part 17 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn has been kidnapped and while Will and Courtney journey back with Mike in hopes of finding her, she's been held hostage back at the palace of the hornet. She stumbles on the good news of Will and Courtney's escape and watches the rip it brings Big Tom and his family. Will is unable not to be able to do anything and help Evelyn out. He foolishly returns and surrenders to the hornet. Evelyn is afraid he will be killed and if not for the timely intervention of the police, he would have been. Evelyn's POVSmall Jay shows up at our door; this time, I am the object of interest. We are losing this battle and I am determined to die fighting. I want to negotiate for Will and Courtney's release in exchange for whatever they want from me. It feels good to have leverage. My leverage does not last up to a day as we discover that Will and Courtney have escaped their prison. I am glad to watch the newsreel the hornet. My excitement does not last as Will suddenly shows up. I'm afraid for his life. Will's POVI am excited to go back to Evelyn. We'll make a better plan after I rest. It's heart-wrenching to discover that Evelyn is back in the den I have just escaped and even though Mike makes an uncertain decision and asks me to stay rested, I convince Lisa and Courtney to let me try and save Evelyn. My decision might have been foolish but Mike's uncertain decision saves me.
Fool
Part 18 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Big Tom's imprisonment leads to several other arrests. Someone was snitching on the Hornets, and they did not know who. Evelyn and Will as well as the other members of their group have been enjoying rest until Timeon discloses to Courtney their plan to break Big Tom out. He does this in a bid to convince Courtney that he loves her. The latter manages to manipulate the main plan from her lover whilst wondering if she loves him or not. The Hornet's camp is in disarray and Small Jay has to keep things under control. Evelyn's POVBig Tom's arrest brings peace and harmony for a while before we receive disturbing news. Timeon divulges their plan to break their father out of prison, to Courtney, and while we cannot trust him to be truthful, we have to trust Courtney enough to let her fake boyfriend help us make sure Big Tom remains in jail. Will's POVI am having a good time at home. It feels good not to be on the run. However, Timeon's appearance changes everything. He tells Courtney that they plan to break into the prison and get their father out. We convince Courtney to play along with Timeon. Eventually, we have their plan and are ready to intercept. But we were fooled.
Tussles
Part 19 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Big Tom has broken out of prison, and Will and the girls are in a panic. While Mike works with his men to ascertain the level of damage done in the breaking out, Will and the girls get to safety and come up with a plan. Big Tom is momentarily distracted, and Small Jay has to remind him of their planned alliance with their rivals, led by Marci. Adrian holds a grudge against his father, and despite having a working plan to abduct Evelyn and kill Will, he has his own plan. Evelyn's POVLisa and everyone else think we should be calm, but knowing that Big Tom is free does not help. We return home to find our house on fire, and now we have to stay in a brothel. Will wants to put his life on the line, but I am able to make everyone see that using me as bait, instead of Will, would be more advantageous. I know that Big Tom will not think twice about ending Will's life. Everyone is anxious about putting me forward as bait, but they have to trust me. When Adrian shows up and kills his colleague, confusion sets in. Will's POVBig Tom's escape puts everyone, especially Evelyn, on edge. We get home to find the ranch on fire. Only Big Tom could have done this. It's a warning, and I am not taking kindly to it. Courtney finds a not-too-suitable place for us to stay in for a few days. I come up with the idea of using myself as bait, even though I am not so sure I'd survive it. Evelyn pushes herself forward in place of me and persuades everyone to believe in her plan, a brilliant one, but still; I don't like that her life's on the line, but I have to trust her regardless. I watch the men come into the brothel but am surprised when Adrian kills his colleague and offers us his alliance.
Adrian
Part 20 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Adrian has gone AWOL, killing Marci's men in the process. The Hornets Den is set against each other, and while Big Tom tries to get his house back in order, Evelyn takes back the mantle of power from their captor, Adrian. After a few skirmishes, Adrian gets Will and the others to believe that the Hornets are their common enemy, and together they organize a plan to get their freedom from Big Tom and his gang of criminals. They are negotiating with Oliver, and everything is going according to plan until the gunshots, which, unfortunately, hit Evelyn. Evelyn's POVAdrian has kidnapped us, and for all we know, he may be using us to carry out a selfish plan against his father. I managed to knock him out and take charge of the situation. I bet being on the run had hardened me a bit. We find a middle ground with Adrian, after finding out why he would dare go against his father's plan. I am nervous as we make a plan with the very devils who made sure to keep us on the run. All is almost well until the gunshots. Will's POVOur plan to lure the Hornets has backfired, and we are Adrian's prisoners now. Evelyn changed the narrative a bit, and we are now open to working with Adrian against his father, a common enemy. We find a safe place and schedule a meeting. The negotiation goes well, but the sudden shooting comes as a surprise to us all.
1978
Part 21 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Will and Evelyn are both down due to a surprise shoot-out at the negotiations. Adrian manages to escape with Gary, while Oliver, Timeon, and Donny return to their worried fathers. Each party suspects the other of foul play until it is revealed that history may be repeating itself. 'Dead but alive' Duchess Quin is found to be responsible for the shoot-out. Every camp has a plan, but again, Evelyn and her folks are caught in the unpleasant loop. Evelyn's POVI am surprised to have been hit, and before I can utter another word, I pass out. When I woke up, I found my family waiting at the hospital with me. Will is not there and I am worried, insisting on seeing him. Fortunately, he recovers, and while we are still coming to terms with the unfortunate shooting earlier, we receive a text from a certain Duchess. Father seems to know her, and I insist on being part of her plan to bring down the Hornets. Maybe I shouldn't have been so trusting and coercive. Court's life might be in danger now. Will's POVI am running to save Evelyn and to get out of this messed up negotiations shoot-out when a bullet hits me. Courtney manages to get us safely to the house but Evelyn is long gone. I cannot take the grief and no matter how hard I try to hold on, I pass out. When I wake up, Evelyn is there to welcome me back to life. Lisa receives a text from someone from Bill's past, and we agree to join the person in her ploy to bring down the Hornets. Despite my zeal in joining them for the meet-up, Evelyn forces me to stay put, using her logic.
Truce
Part 22 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Duchess Quin arranges with Will and his group to get Big Tom back in prison. Adrian is willing to join them in the quest. He thinks that way, he'd get his freedom to love Gary freely again, even though it has been a rollercoaster ride for both of them. Oliver traces Adrian to Kansas and brings him home. Bill informs the others once Adrian's GPS comes back on, and they sneak up on Big Tom's safe house totally unaware of the surprise waiting for them.
Evelyn's POV
I am worried that my father might mess up our plan to attack Big Tom. He has been spending long hours with the Duchess, and she doesn't seem like a good influence, but we have to trust my father and give him a chance to redeem himself. Striking a deal with Adrian doesn't exactly seem 'wise', and while they prepare to ambush and arrest Big Tom, I am afraid that something will go wrong, as usual.
Will's POV
I am recovering fine, I think, but the thought of Bill being in charge of our plans and safety is troubling. Hearing that he hit on the dangerous Duchess Quin, and might have slept with her, does not help me build trust in him. I meet a new Bill that I have never seen before, the Roger Monster of the mob. When I spy on him, he catches me, and after a little conversation, I begin to believe he could redeem us. When Adrian joins us, I fear that we might be double-crossed. Adrian, however, keeps his end of the bargain, leading us to his father's safe house. I hate to be left behind in the car while the main action plays out, which is why I tail the party, expecting to see the anguish on Big Tom's face when he's arrested. Instead, I watch an explosion as the party nears the safe house.
Dissonance
Part 23 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Quin has been captured and is being held captive. Adrian knows he has to stay and help her get out, as well as find a way to lead them back to her father. Marija is in turmoil, and Courtney volunteers to confirm whether Quin is dead or alive. Bill insists on going with her, and Evelyn and Will have alone time ruined by her sudden desire for a child. Will thinks their situation is too chaotic for a child to be in, and even though Evelyn thinks the same thing, she is bitter about Will's reaction. When Quin escapes with the help of Adrian, they have the location of a new safe house where they plan to arrest Big Tom for good, but Oliver has his own plans. Evelyn's POVI am worried about not having a child of my own after such a long time. I am afraid that I might never have one, and even though I understand the chaos around us, I yearn to have a child of my own. When I find alone time with Will, I mention it, but his sharing my fear does not help me feel better. When Quin is rescued and a new safe house is revealed, I want to be a part of those who'd end this chaos. After all, if the chaos ends, I could finally have a family of my own. At the safe house, another round of gunshots is released, and I fear that I might lose Will, again. Will's POV
It is chaotic enough that Quin has been either abducted or killed and while Bill and Courtney are away to confirm which it is, I manage to get time to be romantic with Evelyn. That short time is ruined when she mentions making a baby. I try to make her feel my fear, but she becomes unreasonable. When she insists on going to the new safe house with Mike and the men, I know I must follow.
Setup
Part 24 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Adrian's plan to deliver his father to the cops has failed dismally. An underground agent was working for them. Will is seriously injured, and Evelyn is afraid to lose him. When he comes to, he admits that he was afraid of dying and leaving her alone, but even more afraid of not having a child with her. They agree to get away from under the Hornet's radar and raise a family before they continue their battle with the enemy, but Adrian showing up at their new safe location surprises everyone. Evelyn's POVWill has been shot, and I am not ready to leave his side until he recovers. The nurses have tried their best, but I am resolute. Sitting there, watching him unconscious does things to my mind. I should have understood his fear of bringing a child into this world. It was a chaotic world. When he comes to, I am more than relieved, and even happier when he suggests that we make a baby, and hide away from all the chaos of the Hornets. We have found a place to stay safe, but Adrian shows up unexpectedly one day, and I feel like we have made the wrong choice. Will's POVAll the while I was in a coma, my mind would not rest. I wanted to know if Evelyn was safe, and I also regretted that I did not have my bloodline out there yet. When I wake up, I push aside all my fears and convince Evelyn that we should start a family. She is excited, and we all go to a safe place. Things are going fine until Adrian shows up, again.
Bullets
Part 26 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Many of Mike's men are injured in the shootout with the hornet's camp. Evelyn is afraid. She's never been more afraid for her life than now. Will is confident and sure of a victory especially since the prisoner from the hornet's camp is willing to help lead them to the enemy camp. Quin still distrusts Xavier, and thinks creeping up on the hornets without proper preparation is a big mistake. Mike assures her of more manpower, and Xavier informs them of a possible negotiation move. A surprising turn of events twists luck against Will and the other men. Evelyn's POVI am distraught, afraid that I might have lost Will. For the first time in a long time, I feel an unusual wave of intense fear. I wonder if I will be able to have my dream of having a family with Will come true. When he calls to assure us of his safety, I feel a little relief which is intensified only after we meet again at the new hideout. The men are injured, but they have captured a prisoner who is ready to work with us. Marija thinks we might be on our way to victory after we get news of a possible negotiation plea from the hornet. Everyone is confident of a win. I hope we do. Will's POV
We have lost men and many others are injured. While we are at a hideout, a cop captures a prisoner from the hornet camp. He is ready to work with us, and even though Quin thinks we should not trust him, we can't sit around and do nothing. When there's news of a possible negotiation plea, we smell victory. An unusual drama plays out as we attempt to swoop in on the hornet.
Hibernation
Part 27 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn is distraught. The whole family has been thrown into a state of concern. Lisa misses her boy and seems to feel only emptiness. Evelyn feels the same way. Will is not there. He is with the injured Mike. A new detective is in town, and it looks like the Hornets have met their match. Evelyn's POVI am terrified! Will and Mike might be injured from the bullets raining down on them which we heard over the intercom. We are on our way to Mexico. Paul uses his connection to help us get out to a safe place. He takes Jamie from Lisa for protection and that leaves my sister feeling empty. I share her emptiness as I long for Will's presence. A phone call, one evening, heightens my fear. Will's POVMike is injured and I have to watch over him. A new detective is taking his spot in the investigation of the Hornets. She seems to be making good strides in catching up with the bad guys. The news is a testimony of this. Mike is not happy to be rendered useless even though I try to convince him to rest with the family in Mexico. Paul helps plan our reunion with the family by getting our tickets ready. Mike disappears at the airport while I am distracted and I have to lie to the family.
Decisions
Part 28 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Lisa is enraged, and Evelyn is losing hope. The whole house is scattered, and it looks like they are between the devil and the deep blue sea. Lisa needs to get back her only child from Oliver. He has a proposition for them. They have a backup plan for him too. Mike and Will are not back either since the former has a medical situation and has refused to listen to Will's suggestion to take things easy. Mariquez sniffs out Donny, and the latter flees. Big Tom has been reminded of his past glory and is committed to being the strong leader he used to be. Adrian, on the other hand, still wants love and has betrayed his family again. Evelyn's POVI am fearful for our family. Reminiscing about the good old days does not help reduce the anxiety I feel. Will is not back home, and won't be until they have first rounded up Oliver and gotten Jamie back from him. I miss him. When he calls, and we talk over the phone, I feel a little peace, but I know chaos is all I will be a part of. Will's POVI find Mike half-dead and help get him to a hospital. I recognize the disappointment on his face when he sees he's back with me. When I inform him of a mission to save Lisa and Jamie, he is back to his jolly old self again.
Surprise
Part 29 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Jamie is safe, and Oliver has been abducted. There's a debate about trusting Adrian and about him proving his loyalty to the others. Mariquez gets injured and reaches out to her crazy niece, Selda as an undercover. Selda does not believe in her aunt's version of justice. She discovers the location of the Hornets and proposes a deal with Will's team.
Evelyn's POVI am angry to see that Adrian is back on our team. I don't trust him, but no one else but Lisa supports me. I have to accommodate him while we find the solution to what we need: getting Big Tom back in jail. One incident makes me rethink my opinion on Adrian's loyalty to the team. A phone call brings hope and we are ready to try again to win this battle.
Selda
Part 30 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Will's camp experiences a moment of victory against the Hornets, and hope is again restored in their hearts, although some fear it will not last. The Hornet's group is afraid of the 'little female monster' who has reduced their numbers greatly. Donny goes to kill Mariquez in her sickbed and has to make a last-minute peace offering when he meets Selda instead. It is an impossible offer, and she asks to think about it. Both camps plan to ambush each other, and another disaster meets their little tête-à-tête moment of compromise.
Evelyn's POVThis is because of Selda, excitement has returned to our camp after a long time. She arrives at our new post and informs us of an offer made by Donny and her plan to accept it and still take her pound of flesh. I am optimistic about the outcome of the intended betrayal, but I fear that we might lose more men than intended since Selda would only be going with one of the three groups of men on duty. I am not alone in that fear, but the hope that all will turn out fine unites us.
Will's POV
For the first time in a long while, we smell victory against the Hornets folk. Even Evelyn and Lisa are smiling. I am grateful for Selda's gift to our camp. When she arrives with an offer from Donny and a plan to double-cross him, I am all too eager to execute the plan beside her. However, watching her hit the ground in a lifeless manner, shocks the hell out of me.
Tie
Part 31 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Selda is on the verge of death. Mariquez does not like the idea of her niece, Selda, being involved in this life-threatening case. The Hornets have succeeded, although very narrowly, in evading the punishment coming their way. Courtney is not happy about this and has decided to take things into her own hands. Events escalate, and Lisa is affected.
Evelyn's POVThe news has changed to bad as abruptly as it had hit 'great.' I am troubled by the news of our shallow 'win.' My baby is, too. Courtney must have felt even more hurt since she has taken it upon herself to put the whole family in an uncomfortable situation.
Will's POVI am worried about Evelyn. She should not have answered the phone, for crying out loud. I now have to rush home to be with her. Lisa calms her down before I get to the safe house, and it's a relief. We have to find a new tactic to use on the Hornets, but Mike arrives with worse news. Selda is missing, as is Courtney.
Wants
Part 32 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Everyone wants something. Lisa is more intentional about retrieving Jamie without a scratch on him, Adrian is off to find his long-lost love, the Hornets want Small Jay back and Quin wants revenge. Each person plays their cards to favor themselves. Retrieving Jamie is a success, but the aim to kill two birds with one stone once again fails.
Evelyn's POVI feel sorry for Lisa. She's back in the field, again. The reason she's been off the field has been that her baby was taken away from her, and she was keen to get him back. I am left alone with Adrian, a move I think is not well thought out. Adrian uses it to his advantage and I am engulfed with fear.
Will's POVLisa wants her son back. The Hornets have requested an exchange of hostages, but we want to play according to their plan and outsmart them. I must keep Quin and Lisa from eating each other alive since each wants us to go about things differently. While at it, Adrian makes a subtle threat, and we are forced to give him what he wants. I am restless until Courtney confirms that Evelyn is safe. We return to the exchange of hostage situations; Mike is coming to help, too. Getting Jamie back is easy, but outsmarting the Hornets turns out to be more difficult than we anticipated.
Green
Part 33 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
In the heat of a shoot-out, Courtney is left out of Lisa's slight attempt to save the lives of her team members. Mike is bent on finding Courtney. In a moment of vulnerability, Courtney does something stupid. Mike tries to feed her the truth gently and it sparks more depression for her. Court finds Timeon, and together they draft a plan that they feel would help them out of their awkward situation.
Evelyn's POVI am not happy that Courtney has been left behind, as were Bill and Maraji. Bill and Maraji find their way home, but Mike loses Courtney after rescuing her. She returns sad and sullen, although I understand her decision to give everyone the cold shoulder. What I fail to understand, however, is why she turned against us.
Will's POVI feel so guilty about leaving Courtney behind that when Mike insists on going after her, I take his side. I have to calm Evelyn down. She's not wrong when she says we must not breed hatred amongst us. Courtney returns home a different person, but I am certain nobody knew how much she had changed until she pulled a gun on us.
Missa
Part 34 of the Cowboy Love and Mystery series
Evelyn wants her child to grow up with its father, but the Hornets gang is bent on making that wish impossible. To make matters worse, Courtney has joined the Hornets. They must find a way to bring Will back before he is killed. Quin reluctantly seeks the face of an old friend, and they come up with a plan to rescue Will. Courtney may have died in the process though.
Evelyn's POVI cannot believe that Courtney betrayed our trust. I am furious and fearful at the same time. I want my child to grow up with a father, but that vision seems bleak right now. Quin takes us to a weird old friend who is willing to help us at the expense of our patience and some money, of course.
Will's POV
I have lost faith and have resigned myself to my fate. I will be killed, and Courtney will help the Hornets do so. I always think of Evelyn and my unborn child, and I try to convince Courtney that no good will come of her being part of the Hornets. But she is adamant. I try to make a treacherous deal to buy myself some time, but no one will hear me out. At the last minute, when all hope is lost, a rescue team shows up, but Courtney may have paid with her life.
