Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (AIWS)
by K. L. Rayne
Part of the Clouds of Rayne series
This book will discuss what Alice In Wonderland Syndrome is (AIWS), age of onset of the symptoms, why it is named AIWS, where it might come from, what the symptoms of AIWS are, what distortions are included in AIWS, causes and therapies for AIWS. We will also cover Sensory Processing Disorder, Irlen Syndrome, Pineal Gland Cysts, Chiari Malformation, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Migraines, Cow Protein Intolerances, and other conditions related to Alice In Wonderland Syndrome. What is Alice In Wonderland Syndrome?Alice In Wonderland Syndrome (also referred to as AIWS) is a psychological and neurological condition that causes visual and perceptual changes in objects and people that are around the person. The disorder is also known as Todd's Syndrome or Lilliputian hallucinations. Essentially, things that disturb the normal electrical impulses in the brain and the chemical balances in the brain can trigger migraines and correlating hallucinations or perceptual distortions. Multiple disorders, structural deformities, and imbalances can cause Lilliputian hallucinations and Alice In Wonderland Syndrome. We will discuss them. As a sufferer, I was overcome by Alice In Wonderland Syndrome while I was sitting in the school cafeteria one day. I was approximately 10 years old. I remember feeling scared and confused at what was occurring. I later realized that I had contracted Scarlet Fever and Mononucleosis back to back, which are just some of the triggers for Alice in Wonderland Syndrome.Just prior to the Alice In Wonderland Syndrome Attack, I remember experiencing eye pressure, halos around my vision, pressure in my head and eyes, and tension in my occipital nerves where my skull meets my neck in the back of my head.Migraines, neurological symptoms, hallucinations, perceptual distortions and more can be experienced literally at any age. The body and the brain are delicate environments with many chemicals and cells that must be in balance at all times.Hormones help to control these balances, but hormone changes can also bring on an Alice In Wonderland Syndrome attack. Other things that are responsible for Alice In Wonderland Syndrome hallucinations are: headache and migraines, prescription and street drugs, tumors, brain injury, sleep deprivation and insomnia, stress and anxiety, and electrical disturbances in the brain. A person with mononucleosis or infected with the Epstein-Barr virus can get the symptoms of Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. It is said that Alice in Wonderland Syndrome usually resolves by adulthood. It is common in childhood. Some children might not report to their parents that they have had it, as I did not report my symptoms to mine. I was a bit nervous that I was hallucinating, and thus it was an experience that made me feel somewhat too embarrassed to report to my parents or my teachers.I do not believe the statistics online that indicate that Alice In Wonderland Syndrome always resolves by adulthood. It makes sense to me that the perceptual hallucinations might take on a more imaginary form in childhood, and that they might be allowed to worsen more quickly without medication.By adulthood, most people have realized that they are having migraines and pressure/chemical changes in the brain, thus the awareness (in my opinion) might reduce the severity of the hallucinations. Additionally, most adults who are experiencing migraines learn to take medication when they are getting a migraine onset, whereas a child does not typically know to ask for medication in the aura and pressure states of an oncoming headache, and thus might experience worse symptoms that are ignored rather than treated.Further, an adult is allowed to sit down and rest when they have a migraine or a headache. Or, they take caffeine or drugs to alleviate the symptoms. Adults turn down the lights and sounds....Download to read!

Avoidant Personality: The Misunderstood Loner
by K. L. Rayne
Part of the Clouds of Rayne series
If you downloaded this book, it is likely that you or someone that you know may have traits of avoidant personality disorder. Or maybe you want to learn more about avoidant personality disorder and its sufferers. You are in the right place. In this book, we will cover the different traits for this disorder, as well as who this disorder affects. Avoidant personality disorder is a set of deficient or negative traits that are pervasive and hinder a person's full capability to be social and productive in all areas of their life. Many people mistake avoidant personality disorder with schizoid personality disorder, autism, Asperger's disorder, or anti-social personality disorder. Many think that anti-social personality disorder is a kind of social ineptness. Anti-social disorder is actually a pervasive set of personality traits which make a person have problems with authority and criminal problems. They often cannot fit into society. Our prisons are filled with people who have signs of anti-social personality disorder. This disorder is not the same as avoidant personality disorder. Both disorders, however, typically inherit the stereotype of being "loners" even though they are loners for very different reasons. The traits that are inherent in avoidant personality disorder is a social ineptness and awkwardness that cause a person to avoid others and schedule their activities so that they can be in solitude. Persons with avoidant personality disorder tend to have anxiety attacks and extreme shyness that cause them to feel very uncomfortable around others. They don't feel like they fit into society, and they struggle to follow social norms. They struggle with school, college, work, and home life because of this discomfort with interacting with others.

34 Signs You are an Indigo Child
by K. L. Rayne
Part of the Clouds of Rayne series
BackDescriptionMany people go through life as a sensitive empath, wondering why they are so misunderstood. They feel as though they have never fit in well with others. They may have psychic abilities, such as clairvoyance, telekinesis, or lucid dreams. They may have difficulties with sensory overload, or may even be diagnosed as having sensory processing disorder. These people are often overwhelmed when they are exposed to noise, fluorescent lights, people, physical touch, or chaotic environments. They may shy away from social interaction, confused on how to interpret and interact with other people. What many of these people don't realize is that they are indeed special, but not necessarily special education. They are often misconstrued as being naughty, weak, spirited, learning disabled, or stubborn as children. They are difficult to control by the adults around them. They are often punished without understanding really why they are being punished. They might run in front of cars or running away from their parents, often tempting fate. They might even experience near-death experiences or mysterious illnesses that other people cannot seem to diagnose or pinpoint. These children often grow into adulthood, confused about their place in the world.Children who fit these descriptions are often referred to as "Indigo children." They are talented, spirited, and special in ways that other children are not. They stick out like a sore thumb because they are not at all like other children. They are extremely unique in how they interact with other and interact with the world. They are often exquisitely sensitive because they have advanced empathy. They are able to see, hear, intuit, and feel things that other children and adults are never able to feel.

Toxic Mothers
by K. L. Rayne
Part of the Clouds of Rayne series
If you're reading this, chances are you may have a toxic or narcissistic mother in your life. She may be your mother, your mother-in-law, or your grandmother. You often feel as though something is wrong when you are in this person's presence, though you can't quite put your finger on it. She tends to make you feel tired and emotionally drained when you are around her.Narcissistic and toxic mothers are often injured in their childhoods by their own stunted emotional development. In order to fully develop into a healthy adult, we need a very nurturing and emotionally validating environment. Toxic and narcissistic mothers often grow up without that nurturing. They have jumped through hoops and tailored themselves to others around them. They have been invited to be a part of mind games, lies, and manipulation. They may have been told repeatedly that they weren't wanted.Narcissistic and toxic mothers can be very damaging to those around them. They have been often violated and hurt by others themselves. They see the world around them as being cruel, and so they take a defensive stance against others. They bore easily and struggle to keep their own emotions in check. For this reason they seem to enjoy being in a constant state of drama in the relationships around them. They are often experiencing great sadness, shame, guilt, and depression in their inner cores due to a lack of healing the things that happened to them. They need others to save them from themselves. They need others to provide a constant state of interaction with them in order to distract them from the pain they are feeling inside. They have to project their pain onto others to share it because they cannot find healthy and meaningful ways in which to deal with it themselves.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
by K. L. Rayne
Part of the Clouds of Rayne series
I am a writer, but, most importantly, I am a mother of children affected by high-functioning autism. As far back as I can remember, many of my family members have also been stricken with symptoms that are consistent with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
Like many of my listeners, I remember constantly being ill as a child. I couldn't do many of the activities that my peers could do. Sometimes I was sent to the doctor, and other times I was sent home from school. Since my mother was a nurse, I thought that maybe my symptoms were normal. After all, why wouldn't she take me to the doctor to have these symptoms treated?
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a genetic disorder that is frightening and elusive to the medical community. It is one of many inherited disorders that affect the connective tissues in the body, including collagen. Many physicians will tell their patients that their symptoms are all in their heads. They might classify the patient as mentally ill, a hypochondriac, or a drug seeker. Sufferers of chronic pain might eventually give up seeking help from the medical community altogether when they are faced with these labels and skeptical physicians.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is known to be a condition in which people usually have hypermobile joints and stretchy skin. This is what physicians generally look for when they are considering EDS diagnoses. The truth is that EDS can present in many different ways. There are many different types and forms of EDS, and they affect very different parts of a person's body. A physician who looks for only two signs is missing the big picture of the family history and the patient's symptoms in relation to an EDS diagnosis.
