Chronicles of the Chosen

Morgan Lafayette thinks that being the new kid in Denver Heights is tough - until she learns that the fate of a world she never knew existed lies in her hands. Morgan is one of the Chosen, an intermediary between the world of humans and the world of the magical fey and someone is targeting the fey for destruction. As one of the few who can travel between the two worlds, it's up to Morgan to find out who's behind the attacks and thwart their evil scheme. Morgan is assisted in her quest by the fey creatures Tilson and Askel, who guide her search for the culprit as they travel from a volcanic dragon's lair to the bone-chilling arctic and a partially excavated ancient Egyptian pyramid. They face baffling puzzles, danger at every turn, and menacing guardians at every step as they come closer to the truth, a truth that's more shocking than Morgan could ever imagine.

A mysterious illness has been spreading throughout the fey and once again Morgan Lafayette is called to action. She returns to act in her role as Chosen, but this time she is missing her faithful sidekick Tilson. With the danger ever rising, the haltija has chosen to leave her side. In her search for both a cure for her friends and to stop the illness from spreading, Morgan has to travel even further than she had ever expected in order to find a cure and save her friends. From the bottom of the ocean to a magical land far above the treetops, Morgan faces more danger - and more excitement - than ever before. As she hunts for the cure, she uncovers information about those she thought she knew, leading her to wonder which of her friends were true and how far the fey could be trusted... if any of them could be trusted at all.

The human world is under attack by nefarious fey, intent on causing as much havoc as possible. Morgan Lafayette has plenty of reasons to believe that they are under the control of Ameil Bas-Grann, a powerful magus who has his sights set on destroying the veil. An Ancient, unkillable creature has been sent to kill Morgan and her entire family. She must find a way to defeat the undefeatable if she wants to live. Three seals lock away the means of destroying the Djieien, the enormous spider seeking to end Morgan's life. Guarding the seals are three of the most dangerous fey she has ever encountered, fey who do not trust the humans and the Chosen in particular. She must find a way to gather all three seals, regardless of permission. Not only her family but also the future of her entire world is at stake. Even worse, she uncovers information that leads her to believe that not all of the fey she considers friends can be trusted. There is a traitor among the Council of Fey, one who has sworn allegiance to with their most dangerous enemy.

Strange, human-shaped statues have appeared in Denver Heights, statues which eerily replicate missing children. On both sides of the protective veil, fey are being turned to stone. Morgan and the Council of Fey believe that Ameil Bas-Grann is somehow behind the attacks, but they are powerless to stop his mysterious rampage. Traitors among the council have aligned with the evil magus and are working to thwart Morgan's every move. In desperation, Morgan turns to the one ally she believes can the Mirror Man, the single Ancient who can see everything, everywhere. But he has gone missing. Hoarfrost Castle, the icy prison designed to house and hold the greatest and most powerful enemies of the fey, has gone silent. Prisoners have been released to aid Bas-Grann in his takeover of both worlds. For the first time in her life, Morgan is forced to make a decision that will impact the lives of not only the fey but the humans as well, one that could have fatal consequences if she chooses wrong.
