Band Together

Zeedee and Lewis are a dynamic duo. They have played music together for years. But their music is sounding a little flat lately. It might be time to turn their duo into a full band. Will Soren and Oscar be the answer to Zeedee and Lewis's music blues?

Band practice gets interrupted by Lewis's neighbor, Tash, who critiques the band's new song. Lewis and Soren don't appreciate her comments. But Oscar and Zeedee like Tash's vision and think her talent would add to the band. Sometimes a key change makes a song better, so maybe a change to the band would make the band better.

The band is working on a cover of a song for the first time. It should be fun and fresh and exciting. And it is, for Soren. But the rest of the band is distracted. An old video game console is one problem, and phones keep the band's attention wandering. It feels like music is a thing of the past.

Zeedee has kickboxing. Oscar has basketball. Soren has fishing. Lewis has... nothing. He had the band, but everyone else is too busy for the band now. Lewis loves music, but he needs another hobby too. Will this be the end of the band?

Each band member has a main job in the group. Lewis writes songs and sings. That's his thing. However, Lewis has stopped writing and singing. Instead, he's playing his new synthesizer, and now the entire band is out of sync.

Young Solz may have the word "young" in their band name, but their instruments are old and worn. Oscar decides it's time to earn some money and upgrade their instruments, or at least his guitar. But his new guitar bring him guilt instead of happiness.

A birthday party gig falls flat. The band sounds good, but Zeedee knows that's not always enough. She introduces a new mood to the group's sound. Will Lewis, Soren, and Oscar be on board with the blended beats?

Lewis doesn't really read music. He plays by ear. He doesn't write music either. This has never been a problem-until now. Now the band seems to be doing more of that without him. They even sound better without him! Lewis needs to find out if there's still a place for him in the band in this hi-lo chapter book.
