The politics of the City slowly change from one doubting her abilities to proudly referring to her as "Cincinnati's Black Annie Oakley."
Her national and international recognition changes the nature of her role.
Her first external assignment to is to help restore the integrity of the Chicago Police department.
Her attackers make the mistake of underestimating her willingness to take immediate and lethal action. Action that remains within the law but results in many casualties.
The River Front
A runner, in his late thirties, lay dead in a pool of blood running out of his ear. His running shorts are pulled down and his penis has been staged on his abdomen with a pencil driven through it to hold it in place.
This is a first for the newly opened Cincinnati Waterfront park. She is faced with a "bad guy," but it is not the quick gun she needs but a very quick mind.
She has a Bachelor of science in Criminology and Law Enforcement and has earned a master's degree in Phycology. During her college years she became a black belt.
She spends three years as a detective in a small town. Then she lands a job in Cincinnati, Ohio.
One reason for her selection as a detective for the Cincinnati Detective division is that she is a Black female and the Chief of detectives, also Black, desires to integrate the all-white detective division. He recognizes Alex as an exceptional candidate.
Alex is thrilled with the possibility of being a detective in Cincinnati. It is a smaller city, but its murder rate is comparable to New York or Chicago.
The Chief hires Trey McGregor, a Marine veteran, a policeman in Milwaukee. Trey, trying to escape the depression that a combination of PTSD and several recent shootings in his precinct, accepts the offer.
She is focused on becoming the super detective she always desired to be. And practices a daily routine that includes the gun range, bicycling, running, daily floor exercises and weight training.
The first murder has a bizarre twist that tests her capability, threatens her support, and makes Trey wonder if he has the right partner.
Her preparation and skill development pay off and she overcomes the killer. Trey assists her on the capture of the killer.
She becomes friends with Trey and his family.
The Chief gets recognized for stopping a serial killer. He becomes an Alex supporter.
Little does she know that future events will challenge her in all areas.

Country Road
Isaac organized SLATE with his six buddies from college. The year after his best buddy graduated, he got them together and set up SLATE in each of their hometowns. They all embraced the goal of having sex with women of their choosing whenever they chose. The common element that spanned all encounters was their motto of, that there would be no witnesses at the end. "No Witness, no body, no crime," was their motto.
Driving her beloved black twelve cylinder convertible Jaguar slowly along the private road from the highway through the dense forest leading to the "Northern Illinois Apple Haven" she almost hits a woman screaming for help as four men pursue her.
The person in the lead of three that seemed to be chasing the woman and a man that was pursuing the woman, raises his gun and gets ready to fire when the gun in his hand seems to fly into the air and he falls screaming that he has lost a finger. The person immediately behind him raises his gun but seems to stop midway and drop it, as he kneels and puts his hand on his chest were a large red spot blossoms around a small hole. The third person raises his hands and obeys Alex's command to a lay down.
Vacation transitions into one of the most challenging cases that Alex has ever undertaken. She would be a Black detective interacting with an almost totally white police force across the Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Washington States.
Her team leaves a trail of dead and wounded as they roundup and arrest the SLATE leaders.
It is his last mistake.

One moment Zelda was getting pummeled by her sister. She pushed then she was looking down at her a blood gushed from Ada's head. She looked around to see if Ada's boyfriend with whom she had been making out was in sight, but the coward was gone. Ada's car was the only one in the lot.
Zelda's wish of not having a sister had come true. She pulled her to a ravine and sent her to the bottom and then caved in stone from the edge until she was sure she had a deep cover.
She knew she had taken the branch in the road of her life that was the way she wanted to go. She focused on getting out of the University and getting a job.
Sometime later her mother took a step too far in accusing her of doing in her sister and Zelda took her mother to Aida's grave and had her join her.
Zelda got the perfect job and celebrated by eliminating the lover that had run from both her and Aida. He was but the first of many.
She became known as getting the job done and was soon working on her own doing inspections along the Canadian border with the US.
She had it made and was working her way westward along the border.
Then the bodies were discovered. A US detective was hired to look into the discovered bodies and her whole life began to come unraveled.
Who was this detective? How was it that she was able to figure out the string of plantings that had been so expertly carried out.
Then when she thought she had set up the perfect way to end it all. It was she who had been wounded. It was she who had lost all her savings. It was she who was on the run.
She had a last chance, and she took it but once again she was on the run.
She lay on the ground looking up at the Black Cincinnati detective that had somehow exposed her and had ended her ambition of planting a body at every Canada to US crossing point.
She would forever wonder how she had been out done.
