by Harvey Stanbrough
Part 1 of the Wes Crowley series
The Rise of a Warrior is the first prequel and Book 1 in the Wes Crowley novel series. Although the titles eventually will be arranged chronologically, each is a stand-alone novel. What else should a partner do? At what is eventually dubbed The Battle of Boquillas Draw, the Rangers take down one of the more dangerous renegade Comanche war chiefs and all but one of his raiding party. But that one is unique among the Comanches. He bears the sacred number in his name and is destined to become one of the greatest Comanche war chiefs ever known... at the ripe old age of fourteen. Come along to witness the advent of Wes and Mac as Texas Rangers, and the rise of a Comanche warrior, Four Crows.

Comanche Fire
by Harvey Stanbrough
Part 2 of the Wes Crowley series
Comanche Fire is the second prequel and Book 2 in the Wes Crowley novel series. Although the titles are arranged chronologically, each is a stand-alone novel. In Comanche Fire, Wes Crowley and Otis "Mac" McFadden have joined the Texas Rangers in Amarillo in the heart of Comancheria, the traditional Comanche homeland. As they grow into their life as Texas Rangers, they endure hardships and battles, including one all-out attack on Amarillo, and pursue Comanches and banditos across the plains and through the arroyos of the north Texas panhandle. With the number of Rangers dwindling, the captain arranges ingenious loop patrols to both watch for Comanche and Comanchero activity and to make the Ranger presence known to civilians in north Texas. In Comanche Fire, we meet the venerable Talbot brothers-one preacher, one farmer, and one bandito-as well as a host of other characters. Not all Rangers were always on the right side of the law, and not all banditos are evil to the core. Of course, we also keep one eye peeled for Four Crows and his band, who seem always a thorn in the side of the Rangers. Finally, we witness the swearing-in of some new Rangers and can finally release the breath we've been holding as the Ranger Troop from Amarillo seems on the rebound.

But there's a massive Comanche raid on Amarillo, and everything goes wrong. Well over a year after Mac abandoned his oath and his friendship, Wes finally decides to leave the Rangers to track down his lifelong friend turned traitor. He must get the answers he deserves.
During his search for Mac, Wes visits Mexico where he finds new friends but also a few new enemies. He is joined there by a close new friend from El Paso, Ben Iverson. Ben brings news of Mac's whereabouts and a job proposition for Wes.

The Marshal of Agua Perlado
by Harvey Stanbrough
Part 7 of the Wes Crowley series
The Marshal of Agua Perlado is Book 7 in the Wes Crowley novel series. Having left his old life as a Texas Ranger behind, Wes Crowley travels to Mexico to seek the family of his beloved Marisól Martinez de Silva. He finds them in Agua Perlado, a quaint, peaceful fishing village in the state of Guerrero. He becomes friends almost immediately with the entire family, especially Miguel, and basically adopts them as his own. The feeling, for them, is reciprocal. Except for one firebrand. The youngest remaining sister, Coralín, believes Wes a showoff and a ruffian. Or at least that's what she says. Coralín blows into a room as if she's a whirlwind and leaves the same way. Although Wes is almost constantly confused by her words and actions, he is intrigued to the point that caution is not a viable option. The one thing Wes knows for sure is he won't go back to being a lawman. But when some banditos come along and murder a member of this peaceful fishing village, Wes realizes he must protect those who deserve it... in his new job as the marhsal of Agua Perlado. The ride isn't over quite yet.
There's plenty of action in this book as Wes arrests those who would destroy his adopted town, repels attacks and swaps tales with the proprietor of the local cantina, who is also the keeper of the tales for Agua Perlado and the surrounding region.

As he and his beautiful Coralín are returning from their honeymoon, they are set upon by banditos. Although protective of all people by nature, Wes has never experienced such a massive sense of urgency as he encounters when his beloved is in harm's way. Nor has he experienced such an adrenaline calm as washes over him, enabling him to remedy the situation almost immediately.
Later, Wes is surprised to meet two people from his long-ago past. One is a powerful friend and a force for good in the region, and the other is an enemy he didn't even know he had.
The action continues as Wes accepts a special appointment that he never expected, battles an enemy who is more cunning and vicious than any Comanche, and has a first-hand experience with the magic that is common at that place on the horizon where reality just folds into imagination.
