Scribe of the Heart
Part 1 of the Warwick House series
London, 1893. Haley Richardson is a young scribe who works in the bookshop run by her father, Walter Richardson, a bookseller and printer in south London. When a manuscript with the power to ruin the reputations of gentlemen in the highest offices in the country comes into the family's print shop, Haley's life is changed forever. Her father disappears after being summoned to court on trumped up charges, and Haley is transferred to the care of the Marlin family at Camden Hall. Unprepared for the world of affluent drawing rooms, Haley must learn to contain her outspoken opinions and independent nature. Unexpected support comes from Jack Dunbar, a botanist who suspects his own brother has a hand in the Richardson's misfortunes. In time, Haley finds refuge at Warwick House, where her fellow women lodgers offer friendship and help as Haley tries to rebuild her life and discover what is behind her family's misfortunes. Floresta Báz is a history buff with an interest in women's stories, especially those set in times of great change. She has a Bachelor's in Fine Art and has worked as a filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist. The Warwick House series is her first adult fiction series.
