Deviled Eggs: Shells in the Yolk
by Olivia Valency
read by Olivia Valency
Part 3 of the Sunny Side Up Book Collection series
"Deviled Eggs, Shells in the Yolk" draws from my heartbreaking experience of being ostracized by my sister, Danielle, because I was considering a divorce. We grew up in a Calvinist church. Danielle is a devout member of a branch of that church. In contrast to her beliefs, I believe all people have free will. Because of that, a few other family members have also ostracized me. As I share some of the group messages I've had with them, you'll see how they display signs of being possessed by a demon. If that isn't the case, their cruelty makes them people we never want in our lives. I'm the black sheep of our family. Because of my differing beliefs, they see me as having lost my marbles - and that I'm no longer playing with a full deck upstairs.
By sharing my personal experiences, I show how they have affected me. Including many Bible verses, I show that there's a better way. Our Heavenly Father's love is incredible, and all He wants from us is our love. Through a thorough analysis of judging and gossiping, I highlight how these behaviors harm relationships and foster discord. Touching on my siblings' religious beliefs, in contrast, I offer a side-by-side perspective. In doing in-depth Bible study, I have developed many views and opinions that differ from those of my family. I believe my marbles are all intact, but you decide. Ultimately, everyone has their own path. I hope we can at least agree that - love is the answer - every time!

Poached Eggs: Selling Empty Shells
by Olivia Valency
read by Olivia Valency
Part 4 of the Sunny Side Up Book Collection series
"Poached Eggs, Selling Empty Shells" reflects my desire to challenge the misconceptions of Calvinism. Because of John Calvin's teachings, the church I grew up in ostracized me because I married a divorced man. A few of my siblings have also shunned me because of my firm belief in free will. They adhere to Calvin's predestination-only doctrine. I'm convinced that Calvin's doctrine is the primary cause of their cruel behavior, so I became determined to confront it at its source.
Growing up in a Calvinist church and attending its affiliated private school gave me a unique perspective on John Calvin and his teachings. There are many branches of Calvinism, and each teaches it slightly differently. However, I'll share how I remember it being explained to me by my mom, the preachers, and teachers in my life. Calvin didn't use the words "fast-forward video." I use this analogy to help my readers better understand Calvin's doctrine.
Through deep Bible study, I arrived at views and opinions that are opposite to those of John Calvin. I believe that Calvin "poached his flock" and sold them "empty shells." Throughout my book, I share many Bible verses and offer a fresh and hopeful perspective on the Bible. Unlike Calvin, I portray our Heavenly Father as very loving and show how much He loves us. Ultimately, each to their own beliefs. At the very least, I hope we can all agree that love is the answer - every time.

Over Easy: Cracking the Shell
by Olivia Valency
read by Olivia Valency
Part 5 of the Sunny Side Up Book Collection series
"Over Easy, Cracking the Shell" exposes the cracks in the foundation of John Calvin's theology. After growing up in a Calvinist church, I gained a deep understanding of Calvin's beliefs. Through in-depth Bible study, I developed views that are the exact opposite of his. When I saw many people suffering because of Calvin's teachings, I decided to share my findings to give others hope.
I oppose most of Calvin's teachings because they contradict what Jesus taught. Calvin's theology is based entirely on his predestination-only and no-free-will opinions. I point out the "cracks" in his theology and show that he has no evidence to support these two claims.
Today, there are many variations of Calvinism. I present it as I learned it at the church where I grew up. Calvin didn't use the words "fast-forward video." I use this analogy only to help my readers better understand his doctrine.
Throughout my book, I include many Bible verses and offer a hopeful perspective on the Bible. I cover the basics of John Calvin's theology, and in contrast, I highlight how much our Heavenly Father loves us all. Ultimately, everyone has their own beliefs. At the very least, I hope we can all agree that - love is the answer - every time.
