On Wings of Fallen Stars
Part 1 of the Starbinder series
"Love is the sharpest of blades, and a fallen star can undo even a dragon." When stars fall from the sky, pulled down by ancient magic, Laura of the Ash Clan is determined to protect her territory. Accused of breaching Starborn law by dragons seeking an advantage, she relies-begrudgingly-on Calia, a dragon with whom she shares deep familiarity and history, one who is unafraid to face assassins and brave an ancient forest of necromantic rot. But in the end it is Laura who rules, and she who must protect what's hers-even at the cost of her own heart. Nomi's druidic pilgrimage, her long awaited chance to see the world, begins with her in the wrong place at the wrong time. Alone and far from home, she finds refuge with Laura of the Ash Clan, ruler of a vast forest. But Laura has her own troubles-conspiracies, secrets and heartbreak-that occupy her, and before long Nomi finds herself drawn not to the road, but to Laura and the beautiful dragon devoted to her. As more stars fall and long-dead secrets are clawed from the grave, Laura and Calia take comfort in Nomi's curious excitement for their world. But the world of the Starborn is not as bright as it seems. Danger lurks in the shadows, and a fallen star can undo even a dragon. Vaela is a nonbinary, transfemme polyamorous lesbian working as the primary writer in her partnership with Micah Iannandrea. They write full time in order to someday be able to move to their datemate and build a queer bookfort with them. Her writing usually focuses on sapphic, nonbinary, trans or genderqueer characters, and portraying different relationships of love (familial, platonic, romantic or physical). STARBINDER is set on the deadly yet beautiful world of Astraea, where dragons command nations, clash in duels, and oversee habitats filled with near-extinct species'-humans among them; and not everybody is satisfied with the arrangement. Ripples of upheaval rock the world of humans and dragons alike. A King, poisoned; eggs, stolen from the nest; starships pulled from the cold void with ancient magics; and angels, whose magic eclipses that of most mortals, hunted, chased into the claws of the very dragons they are meant to destroy. Will they remain prey and hunter, master and pet; or will they bear their hearts to one another, and make their dreams of home reality?
