People, mundanes, don't want to believe that vampires and werewolves and other monsters stalk the night. They want to believe that their world is sane and safe and normal. Of course, that works for us, too, because most of us creatures of the night just want to be left alone. We've got jobs and mortgages and taxes just like any of those mundanes.
