The Estuary Tales
by Caldon Mull
Part 1 of the Sol Senate Cycle – Future History series
The Estuary Tales is a Future History, an extrapolation into the next five hundred years of human history, with each century represented by a point of view character. The snapshots taken of their lives and their hopes and dreams unfold against the backdrop of climate change, economic collapse, dread disease, meteor impacts and the mass extinctions that dog us. These are their stories. These snapshots describe the central characters normal lives, their relationships, their life choices and their struggle, as each character battles survival in an increasingly hostile world. These are their stories, long and short, trivial and monumental. These are the tales our children might tell about their heroes and in their worlds of the not-yet-born. The Estuary Tales are further ordered by Tides, by Seasons and by Waves, as to allow the chaos of time to make sense in the human narration. The Estuary Tales describe a message of Hope in post-Apocalyptic scenarios, where humanity struggles between their base and their higher selves against the backdrop of an uncaring Universe. Caldon Mull is the pen name of a veteran storyteller with African continent-spanning work experience consulting for the financial and military sectors. His work includes his primary series the 'Sol Senate Cycle' and his time-tripping fantastika series 'Agency Tales'. His fiction work has received 'honorable mention' over the years beginning with the 1986 Writers of the Future contest and from the SFSA Nova Award over later decades. He has been published in Omenana, RPGA Network, the SFSA Probe and several other, now-defunct local publications. He currently is resident in Finland with his wife and many cats. Humanity has spread through the Solar System. They have fled a hostile Earth climate boiling with pathogens and massive climate change events that ran amok, starting in the 21st Century. The pitifully few survivors are barely above extinction levels... yet they persevere. These are the Tales of this time: a History of the Solar System and the people who live in their time. The Future History is the first section of the Sol Senate Cycle, focusing on the home star of Sol and the Planetary Senators over the next millennium of Human History.

The Sphinx
by Caldon Mull
Part 2 of the Sol Senate Cycle – Future History series
The Sphinx is a Future History, an extrapolation into the next five hundred years of human history, and focuses on the narrative of Greg Summer50, a young Venusian conscripted into the GovSec Symbols Project. Augmented with Psionic ability, The Sphinx is thrust into the Arena of The Sol Senate as an unwitting tool of GovSec Ambition. A stand alone yet complimentary book to The Estuary Tales, but focused instead in the domain of the Planetary Senators. The Sphinx details the ambition of GovSec while the Earth spins closer and closer to the Mass Extinction of it's dominant species, viewed through the naive eyes of a boy from Venus who is destined to become the most feared creature in all of Human History. As The Sphinx slowly devours Greg Summer50 in the course of his duties and tasks for GovSec, the survival of all the Human Race begins to be thrown into stark relief because of his actions. The tormented Sphinx must begin to question who the Enemy he was created to combat, really is. The Sphinx describes a miserable human existence on several of the colonized planetary systems that form The Sol Senate, a dark warning in a post-Apocalyptic scenario, where the human race continues to doom itself against the backdrop of an uncaring Universe.
