The age of chaos has been with us since time immemorial. It has not ceased or waned like the Age of Reason or the Renaissance. Chaos is defined as complete disorder and confusion. Such chaos, seen throughout the world daily, is authored by the lord of darkness Satan. The devil, after all, rebelled against God and was thrown out of the heavenly abode. Ever since, he has been on a warpath to cause chaos. Look at the world today. Do we not find mass chaos and confusion about the truth anymore? Confusion can be defined as uncertainty about what is happening, intended, or required. People are very uncertain as to what is truth anymore, what is morally right or wrong. There is mass confusion even in churches. Confusion and disorder (chaos) result from not serving and following God. Confusion and chaos are the result of engaging in spiritual darkness. Millions if not billions of people reject the true God, and, therefore, His truth and way. All of this rebellion feeds the monster of chaos. This age of chaos and confusion is not something new. It started in the Garden of Paradise. The devil confused Adam and Eve. He threw their lives into chaos when they had to leave the sanctuary. Cain and Abel's lives were thrown into turmoil, resulting in a murder. The entire history of Israel's kings reminds us of a state of chaos and confusion as they abandoned God and His truth. The reality is that this world remains in a state of chaos because the devil the lord of chaos is the ruler of this realm (temporarily). Yet, those who stand with God, who abide in Him, and who follow and obey, can overcome such chaos. The good news is that such chaos will end, and God's perfect order, peace, love and joy will reign forevermore. We need to discern and understand what the age of chaos is so that we are not swept away by such dark tides and storms. In God, we overcome in God's peace and love, but we need to endure, persist in our faithfulness and seek His Way above other forsaken and cruel paths.

There is a clear and intentional onslaught against the spiritual 'gates'. This is not an attack for the 'now' but an attack that has always existed. This is an attack that is escalating, intensifying, and becoming more vicious. It is an attack to lead people away from God, thus an attack to destroy the person. And we are talking here about the 'gate' – entry point – of nations, of cities, of homes, of families, and our very lives. A gate is a strategic point. It is a point of legally 'controlling' what goes in and out of the 'city'. The enemy is laying siege to gain entry, for once he has entered through the 'gate', he comes to steal, to destroy, and to kill. For the Lord has shown the enemy has come like an assassin, like a thief, and as a destroyer. We need to guard the gates of our spirit, soul, and body to abide in the Lord, in His truth and will. Only then shall we overcome the lies, the onslaughts, and the forces that seek to destroy us. Only then shall we walk in victory. This two-part series explores how we can guard the 'gates' so that hell will not prevail and we can wal;k in God's glory and triumph.
