An Elizabethan spy needs to be skilled with a sword, dagger and gun; fluent in languages and fearless. Where do you get such a man? The answer is you find a boy and train him. Young Nathan Fox is a boy actor in the same company as William Shakespeare. His life in the theatre has taught him a thing or two about disguises and deception - but nothing can prepare Nathan for the dangerous and shadowy world he is about to enter.

In his second adventure as a trained spy in the fledgling Elizabethan Secret Service, young Nathan Fox has to go to the Netherlands to intercept a secret shipment of Spanish gold. This means joining forces with pirates and mercenaries to achieve a stunning victory over the Spanish army in the Netherlands.

England is facing the might of the Spanish Armada, which is gathering in Portugal, ready to invade. But first, Nathan and his partner, John Pearce, must go to Ireland, on a mission which involves sorcery, pirates and decoding a list of Spanish spies. Then they must join Sir Francis Drake to do battle against the feared Armada.
