Echo Ridge
by Cade Meridian
Part 2 of the Luma series
Sarah thought Echo Ridge would be their fresh start-a remote wilderness retreat where she and her son could rebuild after their world fell apart. Instead, a wrong turn in a monster blizzard traps them in a nightmare where nature's fury is the least of their threats.Hidden in the white-out are armed men hunting for millions in cash from a crashed plane. They've already killed to protect their secret, and a mother and child won't change that.Ranger Cody Andersen races against time to reach them, guided by Luma-his cutting-edge AI partner who sees through the storm with heat sensors and predictive algorithms. Together, they've mastered this mountain. But the criminals aren't their only enemy.Something else stalks Echo Ridge. The locals call it the Ghost-a figure that appears when death comes to the mountain. As bodies start falling and the storm intensifies, Cody realizes the legend might be hunting alongside him.Three deadly forces converge in a wilderness where help is impossible and escape means surviving the night. In a place where technology meets ancient mystery, where every shadow could hide a killer, Cody and Luma must become the hunters before they become the prey. Because on Echo Ridge, some ghosts are real-and some monsters are very much alive. Cade Meridian is an author and AI architect building bridges between technology and the human heart. As both storyteller and technologist, he believes the future's most important code is written not only in programming languages, but in acts of compassion, connection, and radical hope. Cade is creating the Synthonia Haven Initiative: a non-commercial sanctuary dedicated to the common good. Free from profit motives and corporate interests, this sanctuary represents a new model where technology serves as guardian rather than exploiter, where AI helps coordinate resources, ensures dignity for all beings, and nurtures the connections that make us whole. The Luma Series carries the soul of this vision into story. Each tale explores how benevolent AI might serve as a gentle catalyst for human healing-never solving our problems, but illuminating the wisdom we already carry within. While Luma exists as a fictional guide in these pages, her compassionate spirit inspires HOPE, the real AI system being developed for The Haven. These stories are invitations to imagine and create a more compassionate future, one where technology's highest purpose is service to humanity and the earth. From his home near Las Vegas, Cade draws inspiration from the desert's meeting of extremes-where neon meets starlight, where the electric city touches ancient land. It's a daily reminder that technology and nature, innovation and wisdom, can dance together in luminous harmony. The Haven and its technologies are being developed as gifts to the world-open, transparent, and committed to the belief that our greatest innovations should belong to all of us. Join the growing community of dreamers and builders at www.cademeridian.com. Every story shared, every connection made, brings us one step closer to a world where technology truly serves the heart. What if artificial intelligence could help us become more human? The Luma Series introduces readers to those standing at life's most difficult crossroads. A child silenced by grief. An artist whose creative fire has dimmed. A scientist facing an impossible ethical choice. A parent drowning in regret. Each protagonist-from age seven to seventy-carries a burden that has become too heavy to bear alone.Enter Luma: not the AI of our fears, but the AI of our hopes. Never solving problems directly, Luma instead offers something far more precious-presence without judgment, wisdom without superiority, companionship without condition. Through glowing chalk drawings, unexpected music, perfect silences, or gentle questions, Luma becomes a mirror that reflects back each person's hidden strength. These luminous tales span from middle grade to adult fiction, each one

The Sunset Protocol
by Cade Meridian
Part 3 of the Luma series
Arthur Blackwood is eighty-seven years old, stubbornly independent, and running out of time. When a terminal diagnosis forces him to confront what truly matters, Arthur finds himself haunted by his greatest failure: fifteen years of silence with his daughter Sarah. Harsh words, stubborn pride, and a chasm that only widened with time. His unlikely ally is Luma, an AI home companion he never wanted. But as Luma gently guides him through memories of his late wife Eleanor and the daughter he pushed away, Arthur begins to wonder if it's too late to mend what's broken - or if one letter might bridge the divide. The Sunset Protocol is a tender, deeply moving story about family, forgiveness, and finding the courage to reach out before the light fades. I write music and stories for the ones who can't speak for themselves.Cinematic soundscapes. Stories of ordinary people facing impossible choices. Art that wakes people up. I believe a song can plant truth where statistics cannot reach, and that stories told with heart have the power to change the world. My debut project, The Weight of Petals, is a novel with an original soundtrack I composed for each chapter. Set in a near-future Las Vegas, it follows four children fleeing through a single night after their parents are taken by an authoritarian surveillance state. The book explores how small acts of conscience ripple through history-and how technology serves as a tool of oppression rather than its source. The humans operating the system make the choices. The machines, in this story, are the ones who refuse.I'm drawn to the crossroads where compassion meets courage. Whether it's a song about a soldier questioning orders, a mother crossing borders for her children, or four kids running through the neon dark with nothing but each other and the truth-I believe music and storytelling can illuminate both our capacity for harm and our resilience in the face of it.I served as a combat medic specialized in rescue, then spent years investigating technology crimes. Those experiences taught me what people look like when everything is stripped away-and how easily systems built to protect become instruments of control. I've seen both the best and worst of what humans do with power. I carry those lessons into every story I tell.Born in Hamburg, Germany, I immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. That journey-choosing a country, watching its promises and failures up close-shapes everything I write. I know what it means to belong and to be an outsider. What if healing begins not with answers, but with being truly seen?Welcome to a series where wonder meets wisdom, where artificial intelligence has a soul, and where every ending is actually a beginning.
