My name is Sara Calder. I'm an independent woman living a quiet and satisfying life in Montana. Sure, my seventy-year-old mother has a more active social life than I have, but that's fine with me. You see, fifteen years ago my husband, Daniel, vanished while staying at our cabin on Flathead Lake. Though Daniel's body was never recovered, the authorities were quick to rule his disappearance an accidental drowning. I never could quite believe that explanation (at least the accidental part), but I had a young daughter to raise and bills to pay so had to be practical and move on. And I did-except, of course, for entering into any new romantic relationships. Having my husband vanish off the face of the earth made me more than a little cautious about getting romantically involved with someone new. But suddenly strange things are happening, and I'm forced to step out of the shadows and find out what really happened to Daniel. And crazy as it seems, while playing detective I unexpectedly find myself attracted to two men-both of whom are smart, successful, and easy on the eyes. And they, in turn, each express an interest in me. I'm not wealthy, and no one has ever accused me of being a man magnet. It all seems more than a little suspicious, especially since I'm fairly certain that each man is keeping a secret from me. Is it possible that one of them was involved in my husband's disappearance fifteen years ago? I don't know the answer to that question, but I intend to find out. Sara Calder really believes that Lady Luck is finally smiling down on her. After all, she's recently solved the fifteen-year old mystery of her husband's disappearance, and she has a new job that she loves. Add to that the fact that she is dating two charming and good-looking men after having taken a decade long hiatus from romance, and it really does seem as if there will be only sunshine and roses in her future. But unfortunately for Sara, Lady Luck has different plans for her. Sara's problems all start when she discovers the body of Ruby Faraday, an elderly woman who lives in the Bitterroot Valley. At first Sara assumes Ruby's death had been accidental, but a little voice in her head keeps whispering that the circumstances surrounding Ruby's passing are more than a little suspicious. When two of Ruby's friends also express similar concerns and ask for Sara's help, she reluctantly agrees to play detective once again. As Sara works to solve the mystery of Ruby's passing, she also manages to uncover the secrets of some of the people closest to her, and in the process, finally finds true love.
