"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13, KJV) James Smith is the sheriff of a small town in Texas. His wife, Lara, is a member of the church, but he has no interest in a "God that doesn't exist." A date night that Lara doesn't show up to takes a turn. A past James thought was buried returns to haunt him. Will he turn to this God that he doesn't believe in, or will it be too late? With the help of his partner, Gerard, the search is on.

James has grown in his faith, which has helped his marriage with Lara grow. Lara is working at the church as a counselor helping others. Meanwhile, James has a new partner, Jack.
