Augustus Talbot is a lecturer for Sandhurst Military College ( 17th and 18th-century warfare techniques and political history ) but no one knows of his history and he likes that. Unfortunately, his life is revealed to all after his granddaughter kills two people in one of her rages, he has to help her, and quickly comes up with a plan to save her from prison, but is dragged back into his old life by the dreaded Red File Department as an accessory to murder, they witness her extraordinary talent and require him to manage her future contracts against his will, but they will pay the price for underestimating an old man, he now has revenge in mind for all those who have run the system for so many years, he is the new planner but who is pulling the strings from above, he suspects his ex-wife Helen who is a monster, who, even her own people, call the Dragon is involved in some way, they make the big mistake in giving him a foot in the door by giving him a commission in the services and he will bring them all down in the end. His daughter Elizabeth is dragged from her beloved garden to help as a trainer for others enlisted into a new terminations team, only the old man knows how it all works, and all he ask's is loyalty and obedience and they will be saved, along with his granddaughter Caledonia he is given a couple of bandits, a car thief and a wizard informatics genius who he is trying to work out why, in the end, he makes the plan for them all but none understand how he did it all, and for some, it doesn't matter, because they have faith in the old man, he seems to know everyone in the system, some he has even taught at military school and know him of old, even the newly elected President is one of his old pals who he helps with major problems of corruption in high places.
