The Hand of Empyrean
by Scott Moon
Part 1 of the Assassin Prime series
Becoming a savior isn't worth the price.Empyrean's angel of death had doubts. Obedience took more of her soul each day, a fact she knew better than the length of her blade or how many times she had killed. All action served Empyrean. The god of sun gods could not be resisted, nor understood, nor reasoned with.
Many lifetimes ago, she brought destruction upon her people because Empyrean presented a devil's bargain.
A few may live, Pyr. If you wish to choose, you must kill and kill and kill until galaxies fear your execution of my will.
Pyr slaughtered the enemies of her new master for a thousand years, hating near immortality even as she craved it. For a time, she had been a battle god, but as Empyrean's influence expanded, she became a shadow of the end times.

Spiderfall
by Scott Moon
Part 2 of the Assassin Prime series
New worlds can be dangerous...EVA took another step toward the launch bay, stopped, and put her hands on her hips. A strand of her diamond-blue hair floated in her large helmet. She ignored it, but accepted the soothing effect of its nearly inaudible song. The hair of her people looked like silk, but was as coarse and musical as a violin bow across the strings of life. She wasn't the only colonist considering the launch bay opening. Fifteen meters wide and ten meters high, it was large enough to accommodate one shuttle at a time. With her left hand, she reached up to check the neck of her environmental suit. The alloy bands protecting the seals looked and felt new. The helmet visor was so clear she could believe it wasn't there. She dropped her hands, but hipped them a second later."Nervous?" Jax asked from her left.
